Travis Kelce's Reported Reaction to Jana Kramer's Drinking Accusation

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Travis Kelce is raising an eyebrow at Jana Kramer for her recent attempt to tarnish his reputation by alleging that he has a drinking problem, according to sources.

"He was taken aback as he's never met her and is just living his life," one insider stated to Page Six in response to Kramer's accusations on the May 6 episode of her Whine Down podcast where she claimed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is "always drunk."

A second insider noted that given Kelce's high profile, of course you're going to see him enjoying a beverage now and then. "The guy is under a microscope, basically being watched everywhere he goes. Of course you're going to see him drinking," they said. The source added that if the three-time Super Bowl champ indeed had a drinking problem it would be very hard to keep under wraps.

"It's not like he's passed out somewhere. If he was passed out somewhere, I would totally understand, but that's not the case whatsoever," they said, adding that 34-year-old Kelce is simply a "normal human being" doing what most people do—though his actions are magnified because of his public status.

A separate source claimed Kramer's remarks were simply "clout-chasing," adding, "This is what Jana Kramer does. She latches onto people to get attention." Kramer, 40, who hasn't addressed the backlash, has also faced criticism for her remarks about Kelce's supposed influence on his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

"Jana Kramer criticizing Taylor and Travis... of all the 'celebrities' to be saying anything," remarked one X (formerly known as Twitter) user followed by a gif with the caption "sit down". Another user shared, "Jana Kramer can sit down and shut up. How is someone who has been married more than once in a position to judge Travis and Taylor. Especially basing it off videos. You don't even know him. PERIOD."
