Woman's Clip of Night Out With Boyfriend Goes Viral—'Healthy Relationship'

Couples who sing Natasha Bedingfield together, stay together.

At least, that's what one woman is suggesting in a viral TikTok video. The video posted by Lou (@louisareichert) features a clip of her and her boyfriend on a night out singing along to Natasha Bedingfield's hit, "Unwritten."

"POV: This is what going out with your boyfriend looks like," she captioned the video. "Oh, to be in a healthy relationship."

In the video, which has received over 160,000 views and over 16,000 likes since it was posted on April 21, the duo sings together as Lou's boyfriend picks her up and dances with her in his arms.

Viewers in the comments gushed at the fun-loving display of affection, calling the couple cute and saying they wanted something similar.

"This, or I don't want it," @isabelmryc wrote.

Lou frequently posts videos of her and her boyfriend's close relationship. A video from 2023 showcasing the affectionate ways her boyfriend looks at her boasted five million views.

Don't Ignore Fun in Relationships

Lou and her boyfriend were infectious with joy in their viral video—and it turns out that this kind of interaction does actually make for a healthy relationship.

Drs. John and Julie Gottman, founders of The Gottman Institute, have been researching relationships and creating resources for couples since 1996. According to John Gottman, laughter and joy are essential aspects of a strong relationship. In a post on The Gottman Institute website, he lays out three ways couples can enhance their shared sense of fun and enjoyment.

The first is to "look for the fun." Gottman advises couples to notice gaps in their schedule where they could indulge in a bit of lightness.

"Are Saturday mornings a rare time that you're both not busy with work and other responsibilities? Surprise your partner with a date or make breakfast together," he wrote.

Gottman also urged couples to pay attention to one another's sense of humor. Knowing what makes your partner laugh and when can invite opportunities for shared joy and connection.

Finally, he wrote that couples should always notice that they have a choice to pivot toward joy, laughter or silliness: "In everyday situations, you often have the chance to react to situations in different ways," he wrote. "A tedious moment washing the car can turn into a playful water fight. Awkward tension can be relieved with a witty remark."

Lou's video clearly shows that she and her boyfriend have definitely found the "fun"—and experts like Gottman say it's a strong starting point.
