Two babies with the names of country legend Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter, were born in the same hospital completely by coincidence.
Johnny Cash Davis was born on April 10 at the Huntsville Hospital in Alabama, followed by June Carter Clark, who came into the world just hours later. The babies even napped next to each other in the hospital's nursery as their parents recovered just rooms away from each other, with no idea the other existed.
While neither of the parents named their newborns after the country legends, they were still blown away by the coincidence.
"I was so excited when I heard. I told my husband and family that I had to go find this baby, it was too big of a coincidence not to," June's mom, Sophie Clark, told Newsweek.
They learned of the amazing moment, when the uncle of June's dad ran into Johnny Cash's dad in the elevator and who happened to be wearing a t-shirt of the famous musician.
"My uncle told him we had a baby named June Carter. and Johnny told him that they had actually just had a baby named Johnny Cash," Clark explained.
"He called my husband and told him about it and I was so excited and couldn't believe it. I told my husband, 'I'm going to find that baby'."
So a nurse took the Clarks to the room and Johnny's parents brought him out to "get a picture with his little soulmate, June Carter," Clark added.
The two moms exchanged details and have stayed in contact. They have even planned a sentimental reunion for the two tots.
"We plan to take the babies to Nashville to get some pictures at the Grand Ole Opry where the real Johnny and June met," Clark said.
She explained that they chose the name June Carter after seeing it on a list of names and thought it was "beautiful," but it was also sentimental because Carter is her dad's name.
As for Johnny Cash's parents, Nicole and Johnny Lee Davis, Jr., they chose that name for their son to honor a long-standing family tradition.
"All the men in his family had been named John," Nicole Davis told Simplemost. "This little guy was gonna be the last in a long line of Johns, and we needed to come up with something where, you know, we call him by his middle name... because he needs to have a little bit of his own person."
The baby's stories have been a hit with people fascinated by the coincidence and Sophie loves it and also shared another amazing fact about their names.
"I hope people enjoy this adorable story. These sweet babies will have a story to share forever now," she said.
"Cool Fact, Johnny and June's son's name is John Carter [and] my husband's name is Carter John."
