The Internet's Surprising Reaction to Kim Kardashian Being Booed at Tom Brady's Roast

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Kim Kardashian may have been mercilessly booed by the audience at Tom Brady's Netflix roast, but the internet had her back.

As soon as Kardashian took the mic at the roast on Sunday, March 5, the reality star could barely even get a word out before she was so loudly jeered by the crowd that even she had to take a second to react.

"Alright. Alright," the Hulu personality acknowledged while attempting to get out a joke about Kevin Hart — a phrase that she repeated multiple times as she tried to get the crowd to settle down.

Though Kardashian went on to address her relationship with Brady (or lack thereof) — simultaneously making a series of self-deprecating digs at herself and her family — the boos were all anyone could talk about. (Save for comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's sexually explicit and greatly panned jokes about Kardashian later on in the night.)

Some simply shared their disgust.

"The videos of Kim Kardashian getting relentlessly booed by a crowd full of men, then that same crowd roaring with laughter about her naked body later in the night actually felt dystopian to me," one person wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter).

"This is so gross… 'oh it's kim kardashian let's just treat her like she's not human and doesn't have feelings!'" someone else tweeted.

"I don't care for Kim K but that woman did not deserve getting booed, slut shamed on national TV and overall disrespected," a third fan wrote.

Others not only praised Kardashian's handling of the whole thing — "Oh she handled it like a Queen she is," one user wrote — they felt like she could've gone harder.

"Kim is too humble for my liking," tweeted a fan. "I would've booed everyone in that room's net worth combined."

Others still were just here for the publicity of it all.

"People may have booed Kim Kardashian at the Brady Roast, but all they did was get her trending again in time for The Kardashians fifth season to air on Hulu," one person tweeted.

Even Taylor Swift fans acknowledged that Kardashian — who has been locked in a feud with Swift for years — should be respected, and reminded their fellow Swifties who the real enemy is here.

"Mind you Taylor Swift was also getting booed a few months ago at football games," they wrote. "So instead of still dragging kim I think we should rly talk about the insecurity of men after seeing a powerful woman at top."
