'1,000-Lb. Sisters' Star Tammy Slaton Shares Rare Unfiltered Selfie After Revealing Dramatic Weight Loss

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

1,000-Lb. Sisters star Tammy Slaton is living her life unfiltered.

Slaton, 37, took to Instagram on Monday, April 22, to shared a rare, unfiltered photo of herself while on FaceTime with psychic Haley Michelle. Slaton showed off her new pixie cut and major weight loss in the snap, smiling a tight-lipped grin while looking straight at the camera.

The duo captioned the joint post with a teaser for their collaboration. "Stay Tuned," Slaton and Michelle wrote, using the hashtag for the TLC series.

Fans immediately went wild for Slaton's clean-cut selfie, as the TLC star's photos typically feature her playing around with fun filters.

"This is the nicest picture of you yet!!!" one follower wrote, while another chimed in: "You loook absolutely gorgeous Tammy!!!!!!"

"Love the hair!" shared a third social media user.

"ROOTING FOR YOU," wrote a fourth in all caps.

Slaton — who has shared her weight loss transformation on TLC since 2020 — has lost more than 400 pounds since her highest weight of 725 lbs. Earlier this month, she made headlines after sharing a series of selfies depicting her weight loss.

Along with her sister, Amy, Slaton has documented her struggles and triumphs both on 1,000-Lb. Sisters and on social media. In July 2022, she underwent bariatric surgery. Four months later, she married Caleb Willingham at the Ohio rehab facility where they met while being treated for weight-related health issues.

Tragically, Willingham died at age 40 in July 2023.

"I was sitting in the fetal position," Slaton later told People about finding out about her husband's death. "I got a text message from his friend [at the rehab facility] and the text said, 'Caleb's not doing good. They're in there working on him.' 20 minutes later he texted me back and said he was gone."

In her initial announcement of his death — Willingham died of natural causes, according to the autopsy report obtained by In Touch Weekly — Slaton praised him as her "guardian angel."

"When I met Caleb he became my guardian angel and now he really is watching over me," she shared at the time.
