On Monday, General Motors released more details about its all-electric luxury SUV 2023 Cadillac Lyriq before another reservation window opens.
The luxury marque revealed that the Lyriq will start at $62,990, which gets you a rear-wheel drive (RWD) model. The all-wheel drive (AWD) variant is a little more expensive at $64,990. First revealed in 2021, the company is opening up another round of reservations on May 19th.
The initial round of reservations began last November, which were filled up in less than 20 minutes.
"These are important steps for Cadillac, as we make good on our promise to deliver an EV offering more than 300 miles of range and move toward an all-electric portfolio by 2030," Global Cadillac Vice President Rory Harvey said in a press release. "Cadillac will define the future of luxury transportation through its range of forthcoming EVs, and it all begins with LYRIQ."
Customers will now have the choice of two new paint colors: Opulent Blue Metallic and Crystal White Tricoat. That builds on the original choices of Satin Steel Metallic and Stellar Black Metallic.
The company says that the RWD setup and a 100-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack make for 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Moving up to the AWD variant bumps up the horsepower to 500.
The EPA estimates that the rear-drive Lyriq is able to go 312 miles on a single charge. Range numbers on the AWD model are expected before the end of the year. Cadillac says that the AWD model has a trailering capacity of 3,500 pounds.
Every Cadillac Lyriq buyer will also have a choice in their initial charging setup.
They'll have the option of choosing between two years of unlimited public charging credits at charging stations run by EVgo and a $1,500 credit towards the professional installation of a home Level 2 charger through QMerit.
For charging rates, the company claims that an at-home level 2 charger can add up to 52 miles per hour, while public DC fast charging can add 76 miles in 10 minutes at a rate of up to 190 kilowatts.
According to GM, the car will utilize its proprietary battery technology, the Ultium Platform, to recover wasted energy from the battery and actively manage several aspects of the car to optimize range, like heating, charging speed and performance.
Deliveries are set to begin for the RWD variant this summer, while AWD orders will start being fulfilled at the beginning of 2023.
