Power's 50 Cent Threatens To Quit Working With Starz, 'Packing My Stuff'

50 Cent burst back onto the scene in 2014, when he and Courtney A. Kemp brought to life the much-loved American crime drama Power. 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, not only served as an executive producer, he also starred in the show as Kanan Stank.

Originally known for his career as a highly successful rapper, 50 Cent has gone on to work on the first Power spin-off and sequel, Power Book II: Ghost, and the second spin-off and prequel, Power Book III: Raising Kanan. All of the Power shows have their home at the Starz network.

He most recently served as an executive producer on the Starz crime-drama series Black Mafia Family and directed an episode, marking his directorial debut.

Now, it looks like 50 Cent is set to turn his back on the network—according to a series of social media posts.

In the posts, 50 Cent threatened to leave the network and shared that his contract with the organization was up. His posts come after Starz renewed one of its dramas High Town for a third season, whilst the future of Power IV: Force is in limbo, despite it being the highest-rated show on the network.

The first post via his Instagram stories showed a video of a man packing a suitcase. He captioned the post: "This is me packing my stuff, STARZ. Sucks, my deal is up over here I'm out.

"They Renewed High town and FORCE is the highest-rated show they have it sitting in limbo. If I told you how much dumb s*** I deal with over here. you would think they all went to school on a small yellow bus. "

Joseph Sikora, his co-star on Power and Power IV: Force star commented underneath the video "FORCE" alongside the traffic light emoji, and Power Book IV: Force director Deon Taylor commented: "Wow !!!! This crazzzzzzzzzy."

The second post featured an image of two suitcases with a plane in the background. He captioned the image "Hold my calls i'm traveling, getting the f*** away from STARZ."

He then tagged his Cognac brand Branson Cognac.

In the third post, 50 Cent called on film and television producer Anil Kurian, the head of development at G-Unit Film and TV, 50 Cents production company.

Writing alongside an image of another packed luggage bag, 50 Cent said: "Anil get your fvcking bag's in the car now, we are out of here, take that fvcking sign off the door no more G-unit film and television over here."

In his last two posts, 50 Cent called on other staff at G-Unit Film & Television to get ready to leave Starz, including Josh Bramer, Director of Development at G-Unit Film & Television.

The fourth post featured an image of a man carrying two heavy suitcases up some stairs. He wrote: "Josh hurry the fvck up, get all the scrips we out!"

In the comments, Sikora commented "Oh boy!"

In a fifth post, 50 Cent posted an image of a man folding clothes into a suitcase, writing: "micheal what the f** are you taking so long for, let's go!

"Why are you folding all of your clothing so perfect, we can just get new clothes when we get where we going."

Back in 2018, 50 Cent signed a four-year deal with Starz, which is estimated to be worth $150 million, reports Complex.

Now, as his contract is set to expire, his exit from the network may not come as a big surprise, and, he has had issues with Starz in the past.

Fans of Power may remember in November 2021, 50 Cent called the network a "shit show" in now-deleted Instagram posts after it set an episode of Power: Raising Kanan live on its app early.

Fans of 50 Cent's work have been taking to the comments under 50 Cent's post, calling for the acclaimed rapper to get his own network.

One fan wrote: "It's time to create your own network bro" and a second fan added: "I go where the shows go lol."

A third fan chimed in: "Launch this is 50 streaming network!!!!"

Newsweek has contacted 50 Cent's representatives and Starz for comment.
