Jose Mourinho has a reputation for being hard-nosed when it comes to dealing with players, and his early months at Manchester United have hardly belied that.
The Portuguese has informed Bastian Schweinsteiger he is no longer wanted by demoting him from first-team training, and now he has turned his attention to one of United's underperformers, Adnan Januzaj.
According to The Telegraph, Belgium international Januzaj will move on loan to Sunderland, now coached by former United manager David Moyes, after being left "humiliated" by his treatment since Mourinho arrived at the club at the end of May.
Januzaj, 21, made his great breakthrough for United in 2013 when he scored a wonder goal against Sunderland.
But his United career stalled under Moyes' successor Louis Van Gaal and now there appears to be no way back for him at Old Trafford.
Januzaj, like Schweinsteiger, is no longer part of United's first-team training squad. Mourinho has taken a surgeon's knife to the United squad this summer in his quest to regain the English Premier League title for the club. Little wonder, then, that noses have been put out of joint.
