The Kansas City Chiefs host the New England Patriots on Sunday to determine which team will represent the American Football Conference in the Super Bowl next month.

When and where is the game?

The matchup between the Chiefs and the Patriots is scheduled to kick off at 6:40 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 20 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

How did both teams get here?

The Chiefs won their first playoff game at home since 1993 as they comfortably saw off the Indianapolis Colts 31-13 in the divisional round last week.

Patrick Mahomes did not have a passing touchdown—although he did record one rushing score—but the Chiefs made light work of the Colts, thanks to a rushing offense that cut Indianapolis at will.

A win on Sunday would see the Chiefs clinch a ticket to the Super Bowl for the first time in the NFL era—they reached it twice in four years before the merger—but come up against a team bidding to become only the third team in history to reach the Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons.

The New England Patriots reached the AFC Championship Game for the eighth consecutive season after dismantling the Los Angeles Chargers in Foxborough last weekend.

The 41-28 win over the Chargers proved that while they might not have been at their best throughout the regular season, those who bet against Tom Brady and the Patriots in the playoffs do so at their peril.

Bill Belichick is 8-4 all-time in conference games, while his Chiefs counterpart Andy Reid is 1-4 in the same scenario. However, what the Chiefs lack in experience, they make it up in home-field advantage. The Patriots are 3-4 on the road in playoff games and have lost both their last two AFC Championship Games on the road, against Denver in 2014 and 2016.

Furthermore, over the last five seasons, the No. 1 seed in the AFC has always made the Super Bowl.

Players to keep an eye on

It is impossible to escape the narrative pitting Mahomes against Brady. The quarterback who became a star in only his second season in the league against the man who is probably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.

Despite not having a touchdown pass, Mahomes controlled the game superbly on Saturday, while Brady was at his methodical best, completing 34 of 44 passes for 343 yards and one touchdown.

When the two teams met in Week Six in New England, the Patriots won an epic battle 43-40 and their defense did just enough to knock Mahomes off his stride.

The 23-year-old threw for 352 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions, while Brady had only one touchdown but no interceptions as he threw for 340 yards.

At 18 years, the age gap between Mahomes and Bray is the biggest age difference between starting quarterbacks in the history of the NFL playoffs. Will Sunday be the time Brady finally hands over the baton?

CBS will broadcast the game live but, as usual, there are a variety of other options to keep up with the action, including a host of paid streaming services.

DirectTV Now, PlayStation VUE, YouTube TV and Hulu with Live TV all offer the four major networks and ESPN, but it is worth keeping in mind that their live feed might not be available countrywide.

While all four providers offer on-demand content, in many markets live content is not available, therefore it is worth checking on their websites which live channels are available in your area.

FuboTV will also be streaming the game, while Sling TV subscribers won't be able to watch via the platform, as it does not offer CBS. The game will also be available via the CBS app and CBS All Access.
