Fans will have a chance to hear new music from former Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke soon.
"I'm in the studio right now," Brooke, 24, told Newsweek at Beautycon Festival New York. "I'm working with James Fauntleroy [and] Larrance Dopson from 1500 or Nothin.'"
Brooke continued, "We're having such a blast creating music, my own sound, words, energy [and] vibe. It's honestly been one of the most incredible things I've ever done."
Brooke rose to fame in 2012 on Season 2 of The X Factor through Fifth Harmony, a group formulated by producer Simon Cowell. She came in third place alongside former bandmates Camila Cabello, Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordei and Dinah Jane.
Fifth Harmony announced their indefinite hiatus in March. "After six years going hard, non-stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors," the remaining members, minus Cabello, wrote on social media. "We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals."
Brooke released her first solo single, "Perfect," in collaboration with German DJ Topic in January. In April, she made her television acting debut on Freeform's Famous in Love, a show starring Disney alum Bella Thorne. "Famous in Love was so much fun," Brooke told Newsweek. "I remember going in there, everyone was so nice. Romeo [Miller] and Pepi [Sonuga], shout out to you guys. They're some of the nicest people in the business, and they welcomed me with open arms. I went over there and I was so comfortable. I had a blast."
Brooke's fellow Fifth Harmony members also are exploring other opportunities. Jauregui was featured on Marian Hill's "Back to Me" and Halsey's "Strangers," and is set to open for Halsey on the Latin American leg of her upcoming world tour. Kordei teamed up with Khalid for "Love Lies," which was featured on the Love, Simon soundtrack.
Cabello has seen major success since leaving the group in December 2016. The "Havana" singer's debut solo album, Camila, won critical acclaim and topped Billboard's Top 200 Albums list upon its January release. Next up, the 21-year-old is set to join singer Charli XCX in opening for Taylor Swift on her Reputation Stadium Tour this summer.
Jane is the only bandmate to abstain from releasing solo music. Jane exclusively told Flaunt magazine in January, "Sometimes, when you sing someone else's song over and over again, or songs that have been given to you, you're afraid to go out there and write one yourself."
