Amber Alert Update: New Mexico Baby Abducted by Homicide Suspect Found Safe

A 10-month-old New Mexico baby who was the subject of an Amber Alert and abducted by a double-homicide suspect was found safe after the three-day search ended, police said.

Eleia Maria Torres was found after her abduction and a suspect was taken into custody, the Clovis Police Department announced Monday in a Facebook post.

The Amber Alert for Torres was issued Friday after police found her mother, Samantha Cisneros, and another woman, Taryn Allen, dead in Ned Houk Park around 4:30 p.m. A 5-year-old girl was also shot and taken to the hospital. Her condition remains unknown.

Police found a car seat, stroller and baby bottle at the scene. The search for Torres began immediately after learning Cisneros was the baby's mother.

As of 2023, 1,200 children were successfully found through the AMBER Alert system and 180 children were rescued because of wireless emergency alerts.

Newsweek created a map using 2022 data showing states have seen the most Amber alerts in 2022. According to the data, there were 31 Amber Alerts in Texas in 2022.
