American Horror Story returns to FX with its latest installment Apocalypse on Wednesday night.
Few details have been released about Season 8, but Ryan Murphy's creeped-out series is expected to bring the rise of the anti-Christ and the end of the world. The new season will also crossover two former fan favorite seasons Murder House and Coven.
A few alumni cast members are also expected to return to the show, although little is known about their characters. Longtime AHS star Jessica Lange is slated to make her return to the series after taking a hiatus following Season 4's Freak Show. She is slated to reprise to her Season 1 character Constance Langdon, the grandmother of the demon child Michael Landon, played by Cody Fern.
The last time fans saw Michael was when he killed his babysitter as a tiny tot at the end of Season 1. The trailer for the new season revealed the character was all grown up for the latest installment of AHS. When Fern appeared in the trailer he received a generous "Hail, Satan" from veteran AHS cast member Kathy Bates' character, Miss Mead.
Evan Peters, Billy Lourd, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman are all expect to appear in Season 8 as well as Season 3's troupe of witches Emma Roberts, Tassia Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe and Frances Conroy.
Sarah Paulson, who has starred in the franchise since the show first debuted in 2011, will also appear in Season 8 with three different roles, Murder House's Billie Dean Howard, Coven's Cordelia Goode and a new character known as Venable. In addition to appearing on the show, Paulson directed an episode of AHS for Season 8 as well.
The actor said she was thrilled to play multiple characters in the new season. "Very often, you don't get an opportunity to play a part you've played," Paulson said during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter released Tuesday.
"The unique thing about this show is that every year we are basically starting from scratch. I'm not coming back to work and putting on the same outfit that I wore as a character last season. We're not picking up right where we left off and that's really exciting," she continued. "At the same time, there can be those moments where you feel, 'I don't know if I got to the end of things with that character.' Before the character died or before the season was over, or whatever it is. So it is kind of exciting with distance and space between it, to go back to revisit something. It doesn't make me feel pressure, it makes me excited that I get to go visit an old friend, essentially."
Fans can watch the show via livestream on FX's website, although they will have to log on with their cable provider's info to access the series. Folks with FX+ can live stream the show on the app as well.
