One of the contestants featured on Monday's episode is 27-year-old Lauren Engle, who shared how a tragic car accident inspired her to continue pursuing music. Following her husband's death, Engle felt "there was nothing else to do except to pursue music."

Performing her original "Compass," the 27-year-old was joined by her brother-and-law.

"That is really beautiful," Perry said. "I felt the emotion, I felt the pain."

"You have a good, good country voice," judge Luke Bryan complimented. "It's really, really solid. It's a yes from me."

"He was a lucky man," Richie added. "Without a doubt, it's a yes from me."

Jade Flores

An energetic 22-year-old from a small town in Texas truly entertained the judges with her rendition of "Strawberry Wine" by Deana Carter.

"This song, this is my fiancé's favorite song," Jade Flores said as she strums the guitar. "He says every time he hears this one, he falls in love with again, so hopefully you guys like it too."

"You are a really, really good singer," Bryan said.

"Watching you entertain us was just as powerful as your voice," Richie added.

"You have the personality that backs up your voice," Perry said.

The 22-year-old became the first auditioner to make it through to Hollywood during Monday night's episode.

Christiaan Padavan

Performing "Vienna" by Billy Joel, the judges knew 19-year-old Christiaan Padavan was going to Hollywood the moment he opened his mouth.

"You really surprised us," Perry complimented. "You really have a serious voice."

Following his stellar audition, Perry asks him to sing them out with "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra.

Ryan Hammond

Coming from Modesto, California, Ryan Hammond told a powerful story of complications with weight loss surgery. Nearly dying from a hole in his stomach, which caused gastric acid leaking into his abdominal cavity, the 25-year-old was able to pull through and lose 170 pounds.

Performing "Lay Me Down" by Sam Smith, the Modesto-native was able to show off his wide vocal range.

"That's a gosh darn miracle," Perry said.

"It's one thing to sing a song like someone, it's another thing where you take someone's song and turn it into your song," Richie added. "I'm looking for your identity and you gave it to us."

Hammond got three "yes" votes and is headed to Hollywood.

Chloe Channell

It's important to have people in your corner, especially if they're Grammy nominee country singer Billy Dean. The "Somewhere In My Broken Heart" singer accompanied 16-year-old Chloe Channell on guitar as she performed "Stupid Boy" by Keith Urban.

"Your sound is so confident," Richie said.

"I thought that was brilliant," Perry added.

The Florida-native won three "yes" votes from the judges and is headed to Hollywood.

Emma Kleinberg

Opening up about her family struggles in the recent year, Emma Kleinburg showed not only a positive attitude but powerful vocals. Performing "American Privilege" by Allen Stone, Perry said the "best one" she had heard that day.

The 21-year-old got three "yes" votes and is packing her bags for Hollywood.

"A year of sadness was brought to healing," Kleinberg said to the camera.

Zebulon Spencer

Coming from North Carolina, Zebulon Spencer made his American Idol debut with "Porch Swing Angel" by Muscadine Bloodline.

"My favorite country voice that has come through here," Bryan said.

"I think you got something worth working with," Perr added.

"The hair started to stand up when you started singing," Richie concluded.

The 27-year-old got three "yes" votes and got his golden ticket to Hollywood.

Nick Merico

A 22-year-old actor, Nick Merico is hoping to pursue his musical dreams. Performing "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse, Merico showed his star potential.

"Your sound is amazing," Richie said. "If all goes well, you, my friend, will be famous."

Merico got three "yes" votes and is head to Hollywood.

Jackson Gillies

Overcoming multiple health illnesses, Jackson Gillies remained positive through it all and found music's healing abilities.
