On Friday morning, Google Trends saw searches for the phrase "Melania Trump files for divorce" surge 70 percent. "Melania Trump filed for divorce" jumped 40 percent within an hour, according to the Inquisitor.
With the first lady's name being more well-known than Vanessa Trump's, searches on variations of "Trump divorce" also increased.
Vanessa Trump filed for divorce Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court, reportedly due to marital issues that came from Trump Jr.'s controversial tweets and his frequent travel.
Following news of Vanessa Trump's divorce, many Twitter users speculated that Melania Trump would be next.
"Melania must be jealous of her freedom now..." Luisa Haynes tweeted, referring to Vanessa Trump.
Rumors that Melania Trump was seeking a divorce—she would be the first ever first lady to divorce a U.S. president—abounded in the weeks following reports of an alleged affair between Donald Trump and porn star Stormy Daniels in 2006.
