Andy Reid Speaks Out About Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Romance

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has weighed in on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship.

Appearing on the sports talk show Speak, Reid said: "The Taylor Swift thing was all positive. It was nothing negative at all... She's great... I'm happy that they're happy."

The Context

Swift went public with her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in September and confirmed they had been dating for a couple of months before that.

Their relationship took the NFL world by storm when the pop superstar attended Kelce's team's game against the Chicago Bears last September, sitting with Kelce's mother, Donna, in a luxury suite.

Swift's attendance at Super Bowl LVIII in February was also big news as she was there to support her boyfriend as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers. The pop star's presence at games boosted both ratings and profits for the NFL.

What We Know

During his appearance on Speak, Reid was asked whether he ever told Kelce to separate his personal and professional life, which he denied.

"I think she enjoyed not having to be the center of attention and being able to come to the game and be a fan. I've joked about this before but she went and made the offensive linemen these Pop-Tarts and she just knew kind of how to get in with the guys and that's all it took but she's great, Travis is great, I'm happy that they're happy, that's the most important thing," he explained.

"Trav never lets [the relationship] be a distraction, that's just not how he's wired. He came to practice every day the same Trav and got after it, and the game, he got after it."

Show host Emmanuel Acho posted to X (formerly Twitter) a snippet of the conversation and wrote: "Swifties will love this one."

Views

Newsweek emailed spokespeople for Kelce and Swift for comment Friday.

People took to the comments to share their love for Reid, with some saying they wanted to see him attend one of Swift's concerts.

"Okay but will we ever get Coach Reid at an Eras show? I think we need to make that happen lol," one person wrote.

"Of course we always love to hear good words about Travis and Taylor from coach Reid," said another.

A third person added: "Oh, so Andy Reid is a Swiftie now? That's cool, but let's not forget about Kelce's sick moves on the field!"

However, others slammed the show hosts for asking Reid about the couple, as some found it repetitive.

"We already knew this... Why do you all still keep bringing it up? The chiefs have accepted her as their own," a different X user commented.

"I wish they would stop asking him the same question," said another.

What's Next?

Travis Kelce has landed in Singapore to support Swift as she wraps up her record-breaking Eras Tour in Asia, according to TMZ.

Kelce's manager, Andre Eanes, revealed the news after sharing it on X, writing: "Singapore what's poppin!!!!!!!"

Eanes' former high school basketball coach also broke the news in a post he shared to X.

He uploaded a photo of him and Eanes catching up at a Cleveland Cavaliers game and wrote: "Great catching up with @dreeanes at the Cavs game tonight. Former @SEHS_BASKETBALL [St. Edward High School] player and now Kelce's manager, doing a great job!! Heading out to Taylor Swift concert tomorrow in Singapore—safe travels!!"

Swift has sold out six nights at the 55,000-seat National Stadium in Singapore, with her final show taking place on Saturday. Following this, she will be taking an extended break before her next show in Paris on May 9.
