Manchester United manager José Mourinho will turn his attention elsewhere as the prospect of signing Antoine Griezmann recedes, according to a report.

Mourinho had been thought to be leading the chase for Griezmann, the prolific Atletico Madrid and France striker.

But The Independent claims "complications" in signing the 25-year-old, which mean Mourinho has been forced to turn to alternative targets as he seeks a striker to complement Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Mourinho is understood to be looking at AS Monaco's prolific teenager Kylian Mbappe, while Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski is the more experienced option.

Mbappe would be the second high-profile Monaco forward in three years to sign for United, after Anthony Martial in the summer of 2015.
