Ariana Grande's outfit at the 96th Academy Awards is being savaged online.
The actress and singer walked the red carpet on Sunday in a tight-fitting, pastel pink gown with oversized puff sleeves attached at the waist and a long train.
The Wicked star paired the dramatic Giambattista Valli design with pointed pink stilettos and a sleek updo, but viewers were not impressed by the bold fashion choice.
The Context
People watching the Oscars at home ridiculed Grande's outfit choice.
"Oh Ariana what is this," said @thanosnova on X, formerly Twitter.
"It's giving bed comforter," another X user, Khal, wrote on the social media platform.
"When a wife caught you with her husband in the bed and you used a bed sheet to cover your body," Athena posted on X.
"My loofa dangling on the shower wall," said @andrwgid.
"Of course she would show up looking like a d*** cotton candy," commented @Jaqssssss, while @LatinBaby96 said: "That dress looks like my intestines."
Newsweek has reached out to Ariana Grande for comment via email.
However, other users applauded the daring look, calling it "flawless."
"MOTHER IS STUNNING," said Deva.
"She looks amazing," agreed Nonna.
"That hair do is everything," wrote @Billy00128262.
"She is a real life princess," commented @errika_zd.
"She literally the belle of the ball!" said Simon Wu. "The finest one there today."
What We Know
Grande was late to the awards due to protesters calling for a ceasefire outside of the Dolby Theater.
Israel declared war on Hamas following the Palestinian militant group's attack on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people. According to the Associated Press, more than 30,000 people have been killed so far in Gaza.
Grande posted a photo of her teardrop necklace to her Instagram Stories, along with the caption "Traffic."
The Oscars is the first time the 30-year-old has made a red-carpet appearance since the Grammy Awards four years ago.
The Disney icon isn't the only star to face criticism over their Academy Awards outfit. Actress Liza Koshy was slammed for wearing sky-high platforms after slipping on the red carpet, while Bradley Cooper was accused of resembling "some big CEO showing up for the backyard BBQ" with his white-shirt-no-tie look.
John Cena's lack of clothing also caused a stir. The WWE star appeared on stage naked to present the Best Costume award—to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famous 1974 Oscars' streaker—with just an envelope covering his bits.
