Ariana Grande, Pete Davidson Break Up Caused By Mac Miller's Death: Report

Singer Ariana Grande and comedian Pete Davidson reportedly called off their engagement and ended their relationship on Sunday and now fans may know the reason why, according to sources.

On Monday, TMZ reported that the recent death of Grande's ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, was the "breaking point" for her relationship with Davidson.

Per TMZ:

"Ariana was in an incredibly dark place following her ex-boyfriend's apparent fatal overdose She didn't blame herself -- she feels she did everything she could to get him sober -- but it left her an emotional wreck."

According to the website, Miller's death made the singer realize that she "couldn't be fully invested in her relationship" with the Saturday Night Live cast member and that she had "rushed into a looming marriage way too fast by getting engaged.

Miller died of a drug-related overdose in September, which led to many fans pointing fingers at Grande and Davidson for the timing of their relationship and engagement.

Grande dated Miller from August 2016 to May 2018, just prior to her engagement to Davidson. The singer paid tribute to her former boyfriend in a heartfelt Instagram post last month and tweeted that she was going through a rough patch and expressed an interest to stay out of the public spotlight shortly after his death.

Grande and Davidson announced their sudden engagement in May, which took place just weeks after the couple was reported to be "casually dating." According to TMZ, the singer's engagement ring was valued at $100,000.

TMZ's sources confirmed that Grande and Davidson broke up this weekend amicably, "with both parties acknowledging that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off," according to the report.

Davidson appeared on all three episode of Saturday Night Live this season, which included referencing Grande as his fiancée during sketches.

The former couple was seen together as recently as last week, according to TMZ. The source also confirmed that while the two have ended their relationship, they haven't ruled out the possibility of reconciliation in the future.
