An Arizona man is back behind bars after was accused of breaking into a home and assaulting a 91-year-old woman less than an hour after he was released from jail.

Danny Nicholas Jr., 36, was released from a Scottsdale city jail at 11:45 a.m. and then walked to the neighborhood where the victim lives. According to The Arizona Republic, Scottsdale police responded to a burglary call at approximately 12:15 p.m.

According to an interview the victim gave to police, seen by AZFamily.com, Nicholas rang the doorbell and since the front door was not working, the victim raised her garage door to see who was outside. At that time, Nicholas approached her and the victim opened her storm door in order to hear him.

Nicholas then requested a ride home which the victim declined as her car was not working. The victim said that he then asked for her keys and she declined and asked him to leave her property. After asking him to leave, the victim said Nicholas reached in and grabbed her wrist, pushing her inside her home and then to the floor where she hit her head on the floor tiles.

After closing the garage door and the storm door, the victim said Nicholas attempted to remove her wedding ring from her hand but was interrupted by a neighbor who came in and ordered the man to get off of the victim. The neighbor, the victim said, pushed Nicholas and told him to leave the home.

According to KSAZ, it was kids who noticed Nicholas near their neighbor's house and told their mother.

"They were just checking it out and making sure it wasn't something not good," Catherine Mason, the victim's neighbor, told the tv station. Mason said that her sister and her daughter also saw Nicholas push the victim into her home and close the door.

While Mason's sister called 911, she said she ran across the street to help.

"I kind of pulled him and started yelling, and the door was right there, so I kind of pushed him a little bit, and he just kind of ran, so we were lucky," Mason said.

The victim, who uses a walker, was taken to a local hospital as a precaution but appeared to suffer no physical injuries.

In attempting to locate Nicholas, police talked to a nearby convenience store clerk who picked him out a lineup and told them Nicholas had been in the store and shared that he just got out of jail.

At 2:45 p.m., cops received another call, the Republic said, about a man asking for a ride from strangers a few blocks from the first crime scene. The call led police to the home of Nicholas' girlfriend and the arrest of the man for the alleged attack and robbery.

Nicholas was booked on one count of robbery and one count of aggravated assault and is being held on a $500,000 bond. AZ Family reports that he has prior arrests for trafficking stolen property, unlawful use of transportation and forgery. Nicholas was arrested on May 18 for drug possession and trespassing.
