Armie Hammer Played Restaurant Manager for a Day

Celebrities generally work in the restaurant industry as supporting staff before they make it big, not the other way around. On Wednesday, however, actor Armie Hammer wound up briefly working as a restaurant manager.

Hammer, 31, visited an undisclosed restaurant in Los Angeles for lunch. But a waiter asked him to watch over the facility so he could step out and make a delivery to an A-list actress. "Sitting down at a small restaurant for a bite to eat," he wrote on Twitter. "The waiter (and only front of house staffer) comes running up to my table with a huge smile, 'I'm sorry! Halle Berry just called and wants delivery...can you watch the place while I'm gone?'"

The Call Me By Your Name actor accepted the task. And he subsequently proceeded to live tweet his experience to his 141,000 Twitter followers. While on the "job," he managed to find himself in a tough spot. "The phone is ringing," he wrote. "What do I do?"

Once the restaurant's sole staffer returned to the scene, Hammer assumed all went well with the delivery because the waiter was "smiling."

Many Twitter users followed Hammer along his journey and provided commentary. Fandango, a movie ticketing company, was among those that chimed in on the actor's thread. "Call us by the restaurant name, Armie," the company tweeted. "And we'll call in your next order for you." Several others said they were expressed their love for Hammer's live tweeting session and many more sent memes that addressed the actor's hilarious situation.

Hammer didn't have restaurant experience prior to this incident. In eleventh grade, he dropped out of Los Angeles Baptist High School to pursue a career in acting to the disappointment of his parents, who argued: "No Hammer man has even dropped out of college without getting an MBA or a Ph.D."

He nabbed guest starring roles on television shows like Veronica Mars and Gossip Girl, before landing his breakout role in 2010's The Social Network, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield.

He's since starred in films like The Lone Ranger, The Birth of a Nation and Nocturnal Animals.
