Transfer News: Tottenham and Arsenal Fight for Signing, Gunners Prepare for Two Departures

With just seven weeks to go of this Premier League season, how the table will look on its final day (13 May, 2018) is becoming clearer.

As such, teams are already thinking about the next season and how they will challenge Manchester City for the title, climb into the top-four, or survive relegation.

And the plans are largely centered around recruitment. Here, Newsweek guides you through all the news and rumors swirling around the Premier League's transfer market on Friday (March 23):

Tottenham Hotspur has become the latest club to join the race to sign Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion, according to The Daily Telegraph. Arsenal and Manchester City have been interested in the 30-year-old center-back since the summer, but Mauricio Pochettino's team is looking to rival them by triggering his £3 million release clause.

Over at the Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger is preparing for two players to leave the club this summer. Arsenal is looking to offload Spanish striker Lucas Perez but, according to The Independent, the 29-year-old wants to return to North London after a poor loan at Deportivo La Coruna.

Meanwhile, Arsenal is reportedly looking to sell Hector Bellerin this summer to fund an overhaul of players but, according to Goal, Italian giant Juventus are pulling out of the race for the right-back as they are confident of signing Matteo Darmian from Manchester United.

There is also potential, according to the London Evening Standard, that Arsenal could sign a new goalkeeper this summer. With Petr Cech now at the age of 35, the Gunners are considering a move for Atletico Madrid and Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Over in West London, Chelsea are still uncertain over whether 25-year-old goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will still be at the club next season, amid interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. But Goal say their 36-year-old Argentine back-up Willy Caballero has signed a contract to remain until June 2019.

And finally, Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann wants his future resolved before he goes to the World Cup with France in the summer, according to Sky Sports. The 27-year-old forward has been continuously linked with a move to Barcelona throughout this season.
