Former Premier League striker Asamoah Gyan has been deemed to have "unethical hair" by the United Arab Emirates Football Association, according to a report.
Gyan, 31, played for Sunderland between 2010 and 2012 and is now on loan at Al-Ahli in Dubai from Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League.
The BBC reported he was among more than 40 players who had fallen foul of UAEFA rules that allow punishment for "Al-Qaza" haircuts, where part of the head is shaved. Certain Islamic hadiths or teachings criticize the style.
Al Bawaba, the English-language Arab news site, reported in April 2016 that a fatwa from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation had come into effect, banning any Saudi or foreign player from sporting the hairstyle.
Gyan, who appeared for Ghana in January at the Africa Cup of Nations, has received a written warning, according to the BBC report.
