'Atlanta' Season 2 Soundtrack: Songs in Episode 2, 'Sportin' Waves'

Atlanta Season 2 is really sticking to the "Robbin' Season" theme. Episode 2, "Sportin' Waves," reminds us of dark, dark times: losing the plug. Alfred hasn't made any money from his radio hit, "Paper Boi," but his supplier of 10 years doesn't care. When Alfred meets to re-up, his dealer gets away with thousands. "I appreciate you," he says as the tires screech and Alfred is left standing on the street with empty pockets and no weed. It's the perfect segway into the first song of the episode, "All There" by Jeezy Feat. Bankroll Fresh.

This was a very active yet quiet episode, using Alfred's disdain for "rapper life" as a way to explore racial microaggressions. A streaming service meeting at "Fresh" goes so so awkwardly wrong. Let's just say if you're an aspiring rapper, please don't perform on a conference table (unless you are Bobby Shmurda). Darius and Alfred are also having some trouble finding a new plug because of Paper Boi's growing fanbase. At the second potential new weed guy's spot, "Coronus, The Terminator" by Flying Lotus plays as Alfred and Darius try out some kush.

It's safe to say Darius and Alfred will not be buying product from the two dealers we meet tonight. You can thank the acoustic version of "Paper Boi," which will now haunt us all forever (just like these). Not to mention that kid who rapped on the conference table, "Clark County," struck a pretty solid commercial deal. Team Paper Boi all the way, but we're going to need the audio track on that Yoo-hoo jingle as soon as possible.

The MVP of "Sportin' Waves" is actually the new character Tracy, played by Khris Davis. None of his scenes have music, but he goes on quite the fun adventure with Earn, convincing him to flip $4000 in cash for gift cards. Right after Earn gets back to Alfred's house from the mall (he didn't even spend all the money, smh), there's a familiar video playing on the television. It's the Dodge Charger commercial from Atlanta Season 1 episode 7, "B.A.N."

We'll update this story when links for Clark County's Yoo-hoo commercial become available. Check back next week for all the songs in Atlanta Season 2 episode 3, "Money Bag Shawty."
