What Is August Ames Cause of Death? Porn Star Found Dead After Cyberbullying

Adult film star August Ames was found dead in her California home on Tuesday, according to BuzzFeed. The actress, who appeared in over 270 films, was 23 years old.

The Canadian actress's official cause of death has yet to be released by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's office due to pending family notifications. But some members of the porn industry believe Ames, whose birth name was Mercedes Grabowski, may have taken her own life.

Just two days before Ames's death, the porn star was a victim of cyberbullying after she tweeted on Sunday that she refused to perform with a male actor who did gay pornography.

whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews , you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know. BS is all I can say🤷🏽‍♀️ Do agents really not care about who they’re representing? #ladirect I do my homework for my body🤓✏️🔍

Shortly after Ames's comments about working with "crossover performers"—porn stars who appear in gay and heterosexual scenes—she was bombarded with angry tweets accusing her of discriminating against the LGBTQ community and being anti-gay.

Ames defended her stance, writing that she was not homophobic. She said she decided not to shoot with men who have done gay porn for health reasons. "I'm not putting my body at risk, I don't know what they do in their private lives," she wrote.

"Missing the very important fact that NO ONE has the right to tell you who to have sex with. If someone doesn't want to work with crossovers that is their right and should be bullied because the company didn't disclose information to the talent, that most would expect," she added.

NOT homophobic. Most girls don’t shoot with guys who have shot gay porn, for safety. That’s just how it is with me. I’m not putting my body at risk, i don’t know what they do in their private lives. https://t.co/MRKt2GrAU4

Although no foul play was suspected in Ames's death, friends and fellow adult film stars took to social media on Thursday condemning Ames's naysayers, noting Ames suffered from depression.

While speaking with Adult Video News (AVN), Ames's husband Kevin Moore, an adult film producer, said his wife was "the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me."

Several others from the porn industry took to social media to express their shock and grief over Ames's sudden death.

Like seriously...I know that nobody wants to address the elephant in the room..But i will!!! @thejessicadrake and @AlexisMonroexxx i really hope you guys Understand and Realize what you said to August was Selfish and Wrong!! Such a Shame!! Good luck sleeping Tonight. #AugustAmes

A former Nova Scotia resident, Ames started her pornography career in 2013. She appeared in a plethora of X-rated films for major companies like Evil Angel, Lethal Hardcore and Smash Pictures.

Considered a rising star in the porn industry, Ames scored her first AVN nomination for Best New Starlet in 2015. She went on to land AVN nominations for Female Performer of the Year in 2016 and 2017, and she was recently nominated for the same award for the upcoming 2018 AVN awards.

“Choose who YOU want to work with”
“Don’t do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable”
“Share your thoughts”

Hmm. Well, I did all three, and twitter took a dump on me🤷🏽‍♀️

“I don’t feel comfortable having sex with that person.” is all a woman should ever have to say and the subject should be dropped.

It’s that simple. Anything else is blatant misogyny. #AugustAmes

So a porn star named August Ames died today by suicide because of cyber bullying. She did not want to have a scene with a gay man (crossover is the term) and people in the industry and all over social media attacked her to the point of wanting to die. CYBER BULLYING IS NOT OKAY!!
