Is Vision Dead? Infinity Wars Seems To Have Finished Him Off But He May Still Be Alive

In the final battle of Infinity War, Scarlet Witch destroyed Vision's Mind Stone to thwart Thanos' plan to capture all six Infinity Stones. However, the Mad Titan used the Time Stone to rewind the damage done to Vision and the stone, then simply plucked it out of the synthezoid's head. This shuts down Vision and seemingly kills him.

However, there's a real possibility that Vision is not dead and will return for the next Avengers 4 film, which fans are dubbing Endgame. Vision's interaction with Shuri and the structure of his consciousness give a hint about how this Avenger could return for the next movie.

Vison's Various Conciousness

Vision made his debut in the MCU during Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Tony Stark and Bruce Banner create Ultron to help protect the world. Once Ultron became sentient and evil, he continued to upgrade his body. His "final form" was to be a vessel made from adamantium.

Controlling Helen Cho using Loki's Scepter, which housed the Mind Stone, Vision's body was created by Ultron and Cho. The Avengers would steal Vision's body from Ultron and try to use it against him by reviving the AI, Jarvis. Ultron seemingly killed Jarvis before he went rogue but using this data, Stark and Banner put the rest of Jarvis' AI that was combined with Ultron into Vision's body. The Mind Stone was used as a power source to put Vision's consciousness together.

In Infinity War, Vision states that his consciousness is a mix of Ultron, Jarvis, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, held together by the Mind Stone. This leads Captain America and the rest of the Avengers to find a way to separate Vision from the Mind Stone. The fact that removing Vision's Mind Stone, and with it his consciousness, effectively shuts the synthezoid down may have make him appear weaker in Infinity Wars, but that percieved weakness may also be the key to his comeback in the next Avengers film.

Shuri Will Be The Key To Bringing Vision Back In Avengers 4

The Avengers bring Vision to Wakanda to have Shuri, T'Challa's sister, try to separate him from the Mind Stone. However, Thanos' army descends upon Wakanda and Shuri has far less time than she would normally need. Shuri does her best but when Corvus Glaive makes his way to her lab, she disconnects Vision from her computer, allowing the Avenger to fight. It's implied that Shuri didn't complete the process but that may not be the case. When Thanos arrives in Wakanda and takes Vision's Mind Stone, it looks like the synthezoid is dead, but he may still be alive within Shuri's computer.

In Avengers 4, Shuri could reveal that she completed the process of separating Vision from the Mind Stone, or backed up his consciousness into her computer. This could allow Shuri to re-make him in a new body, bringing back Vision without a Mind Stone. This would bring back a powerful and crucial member to the Avengers as they fight Thanos, and solve the problem of having Vision connected to the Infinity Stone.
