Banks routinely close on holidays, and Veterans Day is no different.
Veterans Day celebrates and honors all those who are serving and have served in the United States military. Because of the federal holiday, many banks and other businesses will be closed.
So if you're planning to cash a check or do any other sort of bank business on Veterans Day, you should first check to see if your banking institution is open or not.
This year, Veterans Day falls on November 11, a Saturday, but many schools and employers are observing it on Friday.
Still, unlike other holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, there are still plenty of banks that plan to remain open.
What Banks Are Closed Friday
Capital One and Citibank will shut their doors in honor of Veterans Day this Friday, but the banks plans to return to normal hours on Saturday.
What Banks Are Closed Saturday
Wells Fargo, Bank of America and PNC will all be closed on Saturday but remain on Friday.
Other national banks closed on Saturday include:
- American National Bank

It's best to check your bank's specific holiday schedule to ensure what financial services you can do on Veterans Day.
If you're looking to deposit a check, for instance, you still might be able to do that via contactless ATMs or even through your bank's customer app. Typically, cash transfers and deposits will still go through, but you might have to wait a few business days to see your money hit your account.
In addition to banks, the U.S. Postal Service plans to suspend services on Saturday in honor of Veterans Day. The agency will continue regular service on Friday.
You don't have to lean on the UPS for your delivery needs, however. Most FedEx services will be available on the holiday, but it's best to check with your preferred carrier and the specific service.
While some local restaurants will be closed for Veterans Day, many others are offering special deals you can take advantage of.
That includes Denny's, which is offering a free Grand Slam breakfast to everyone with a valid military ID. The offer is valid from 5 a.m. to noon local time.
Dunkin' is also taking the time to appreciate veterans with a free donut of your choice to all retired and active military members.
And for dinner, head to Buffalo Wild Wings because all veterans and current military members can get a free 10-piece boneless wing meal and fries all day Saturday.
