Before Compton Ambush, Mobs Spent Summer Trying To Murder Cops | Opinion

Over the weekend, a gun-wielding man ambushed two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies in Compton, California, without any provocation. Is this really shocking? Not when you realize mobs have spent a summer trying to murder law enforcement.

For months, the vicious rhetoric from the "Summer of Love" protests has been escalating. The protesters don't simply chant "all cops are bastards" and move on. They've celebrated the death of cops, proudly displaying signs like "All my heroes kill cops." But more disturbingly, mobs of agitators and Black Lives Matter supporters have actively tried to murder police. The media, with exceptions like Fox News, just don't like to highlight these stories.

Over the course of 100 violent nights in Portland, Antifa and other agitators routinely tried to burn down buildings with law enforcement inside. It became so bad that barriers needed to be erected outside Portland's federal courthouse.

Still, the media and Democrats pretended these were peaceful protests and any agitation was the result of the presence of law enforcement. As if that were reason enough to try to kill police.

The most overt case comes from Seattle. A mob descended upon the East Precinct police station in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. This was the site of the failed nation-state of CHAZ—the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. Members of the criminal mob used quick-dry cement to seal the entrance and exit to the building. At the same time, activists tried to set the building on fire. The mob knew there were police officers inside. National outlets didn't touch this story much—with Fox News being the exception.

Not a single member of the all-Democrat (apart from one Socialist) Seattle City Council spoke out against the audacious attempt to murder police officers. I asked each of them for comment. Only one office responded, with Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda's staff saying they had no comment. This wasn't a surprise.

At a June rally in front of the East Precinct, a man threatened to murder police officers in front of Mosqueda. She defended him.

"SPD, I need you to do me a favor. Take your guns, put them onto your chins, and pull the trigger," the man yelled into a megaphone. "I need you to kill yourselves. That's your only redemption. Go ahead, save us the trouble of tearing you apart and *****ing kill yourselves. Did I stutter? I said 'k-k-k-kill yourselves."

Mosqueda, who was live-streaming at the time, turned to the man and then back to her stream. "The anger that you hear is justified," she told her base of supporters.

"Take your guns, put them onto your chins, and pull the trigger."

As these attacks against police have become more routine, Democratic politicians stayed mostly silent. This is their base. So when Democrats do mention violence, they don't go after the ones responsible, unless they can tie it to right-wingers. They won't even utter the word "Antifa" unless it's to pretend the activists are a myth created in DC.

That's what happened in Compton. Will the media blame the mobs for the shooting? They sure like to claim President Donald Trump's rhetoric—including obvious jokes—inspires violence.

The Compton ambush doesn't have to be directly connected to the mobs pretending to care about black lives while attacking cops, destroying businesses and harassing people to forward their fringe ideological agenda. The climate says it's okay to go after police. And with so few members of the mobs getting arrested and charged for their crimes, a criminal might think it's easier to get away with a violent plan.

It's not like the mob feels regret when officers are nearly murdered. They celebrate it. After the weekend ambush, the "peaceful protests" took to the hospital to yell "Death to the police!" and "We hope they die!" How disgusting.

So should we be shocked this happened? No. What else would we expect in this environment? The only shocking thing is that we haven't seen more violence.
