Best Christmas Movies on Disney+ and Hulu

Disney owns Hulu, and the company is merging it with its main streaming service, Disney+, early next year. Until then, you can use your bundled Disney+ and Hulu membership to stream these holiday movies:

  • Jingle All the Way: A workaholic dad (Arnold Schwarzenegger) leaves his Christmas shopping to the last minute and tries to get a Turbo-Man action figure for his son. Unfortunately, the local store is sold out, so he goes to great lengths to find the toy and discovers the real meaning of Christmas along the way.
  • Home Alone: Self-absorbed Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) gets left behind on his family's big Christmas trip. Kevin is excited to be home alone at first, but he learns the value of family and community when two criminals (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) try to rob the house.
  • Miracle on 34th Street: A kindhearted old man named Kris Kringle gets a job as a department store Santa. He claims that he's the real Santa Claus, leading to a court case to determine his identity. The original 1947 film and its 1994 remake are both available on Hulu.
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas: Intrigued after learning about Christmas, the pumpkin king Jack Skellington kidnaps Santa Claus and takes over the role, to mixed results.
  • The Polar Express: An animated film by Robert Zemeckis that follows a young boy on a magical train ride to the North Pole, where he hopes to find out if Santa Claus is real. Tom Hanks stars as the train conductor.

Best Christmas Movies on Max

Warner Bros. Discovery rebranded HBO Max to Max earlier this year. Despite concerns about movies leaving the platform, it still has an excellent Christmas catalog.

  • A Christmas Story: A young boy named Ralphie Parker struggles through the holiday season dreaming of his perfect Christmas present, a Red Ryder air rifle.
  • A Christmas Story Christmas: Peter Billingsley returns as Ralphie Parker, now an adult trying to re-create his ideal Christmas experience for his own children.
  • Elf: Buddy (Will Ferrell) is a human raised as an elf in Santa's workshop. He returns to New York City for the holidays in search of his biological father, eager to spread Christmas cheer.
  • National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: The Griswold family tries to create the perfect Christmas celebration. As you might expect for the Griswolds, things don't go as planned.
  • Serendipity: Two people (John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale) meet while Christmas shopping and share a romantic night. Years later, fate tries to rekindle their romance.
