Each year, dogs from across the country and even the globe strut their stuff in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show judge's ring with the hopes of being named the best of their breed, the best of their group and then ultimately, the Best in Show.
Thousands of dogs will be judged over the two-day show, which takes place in New York City. First, dogs are judged by their breed with Golden Retrievers going up against Golden Retrievers, Pembroke Welsh Corgis against Pembroke Welsh Corgis and so on and so forth.
Then, the best of each breed goes up against the other breeds in its designated group. The winners of those seven groups then compete in the final round, known as Best in Show.
