Beyond Fest 2018 Schedule Includes 'Widows,' 'Suspiria,' 'Halloween' and 'An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn'

This year's Beyond Fest, the biggest genre film festival in the United States, will include high profile West Coast premieres when it kicks off at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, beginning Sept. 26.

The festival will open with director Gaspar Noe's Climax , a musical horror film that combines a room full of dancers and a punch bowl full of hallucinogens. The festival will close with Dragged Across Concrete, a crime movie starring Vince Vaughn and Mel Gibson by writer-director S. Craig Zahler (Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, Brawl in Cell Block 99).

Other festival highlights include the new Halloween (featuring the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode), Steve McQueen's heist drama Widows, Luca Guadagnino's remake of Suspiria, Drew Goddard's Bad Times at the El Royale and the second movie by The Greasy Strangler director Jim Hosking, An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn.

Beyond Fest will also host several world premieres, including Chris von Hoffmann's Monster Party and Best F(r)iends: Volume Two, a new collaboration between Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero of The Room fame.

This year's Beyond Fest will also host repertory screenings, including The Monster Squad, Flash Gordon, The Wicker Man, Akira, Elvis horror-comedy Bubba Ho-Tep (to be paired with the launch of director Don Coscarelli's new memoir, True Indie), Sonny Chiba in person for his 1977 crime movie Doberman Cop, plus restorations of 1982's Liquid Sky, 1980's Maniac, 1972 giallo All the Colors of the Dark and 1966 spaghetti western Django.

"We're honored to get to champion the best filmmakers in the world with the best film fans in the world," Beyond Fest co-founder Christian Parkes said in a press release. "To pair something as instantly iconic as Halloween with a discovery like Emma Tammi's chilling The Wind is a dream come true."

Beyond Fest, sponsored by Hulu and the streaming horror service Shudder, runs from Sept. 26 to Oct. 9. Tickets are available now. Check out BeyondFest.com for the full program.
