'Big Brother' All-Stars? Clues That This Season Won't Bring Back Past Players

Big Brother fans have been plagued with All-Star season rumors for nearly every recent season of the show, but that doesn't mean it will really happen. While some fans are celebrating the possibility of a returning cast, other viewers want to see new faces and drama.

While a series of teasers seemingly indicate a reunion season, enough clues exist in the opposite direction that imply this season may run as usual, despite the expected twists along the way. Here are all of the teasers from Julie Chen Moonves, Big Brother casting and more that may negate the All-Stars theory.

Julie Chen Moonves Jacket

Chen Moonves released a promotional shot of herself skateboarding in a leather jacket that had internet sleuths buzzing about the possibility of an All-Stars season. The jacket, which had a handful of patches, was examined for possible clues of return cast members. Newsweek wrote a breakdown of the claims here.

The jacket, however, was produced by a brand called Belstaff and includes a variety of patches, including a heart-shaped add-on some internet users thought said "All-Stars." Upon viewing the jacket's retail photos, it's revealed the patch reads "Belstaff." Twitter user @lporter35 pointed this out in a tweet on Saturday.

While the patches are pre-designed, that's not to say there's no symbolism to be found in them. Only CBS knows if there are really clues in the promotional shot, or if they just chose a stylish jacket for Chen Moonves to model.

Casting Clues

Big Brother casting director Robyn Kass announced all semi-finalists for this season had been called on May 17. This seems to imply that a regular casting sequence is under way. In a comment, Kass addressed a fan point that asked not to recruit clueless players, and she may have revealed a spoiler in her response.

"Like every single year-BB will be a house of super fans, casual fans and people new to the game," Kass said. Her response implies it's more-than-likely not going to be a house with many, if any, former players, as there will be people "new to the game."

Former Cast Input

While some former cast members have seemed to tease the idea of returning to the house—like Kailtyn Herman in a recent interview with houseguest JC Monduix—others don't think the revival is likely. Former winner Andy Herren predicted it wouldn't be an All-Stars season.

"Friendly reminder that any Big Brother alums toying about #BB21 being All-Stars have absolutely no idea what they are talking about because if CBS ACTUALLY reached out to them, they'd be too scared to say a word!" Herren wrote on May 22. Two-time houseguest Paul Abrahamian liked the tweet.

Producer Comments

Allison Grodner, executive producer of Big Brother, implied fresh faces would be a trend in seasons to come during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter,. "For the past couple of years, we've had people return," she said. "It's nice to have a fresh start for BB20 and to have a brand-new cast of people and brand-new cast of potential "all stars" in the future."

Rich Meehan, also executive producer, followed up her comment with a statement on an All-Stars season. "Big Brother is still going strong so we didn't feel the need to do an "all star" cast to generate interest," he said.
