'Big Brother': Haleigh Broucher Accused Of Making Insensitive Comment Toward People with Disabilities

Haleigh Broucher has been added to the growing list of Big Brother Season 20 contestants, which some viewers consider problematic. Broucher was heard making a mocking comment about people who have disabilities on the show's live feeds Monday night, according to Soap Dirt.

In a live feed video, Broucher was seen reading a fortune cookie that read: "Nothing can keep you from reaching your goals." The houseguest read the fortune out loud and quickly continued with an evaluation of the fortune.

"That is not true because if you are paralyzed, you cannot reach anything." At the time, Broucher was speaking with JC Mounduix and Tyler Crispen. Crispen responded to Broucher's comment with surprise. "That is the worst thing I've ever heard you say," he said. "You need to rephrase that."

Broucher read the fortune again. "Nothing can keep you from reaching your goals...Nothing?" the college student said.

Mounduix defended the community and noted he has seen "people like that" reach their goals.

Twitter users expressed upset with Broucher's comment. "This was one of the worst comments I've ever heard on live feeds by a HG," a user said. "Literally appalling. Even JC told her it was bad! She's got a whole whole lot of growing up to do."

This was the one of the worst comments I’ve ever heard on live feeds by a HG. Literally appalling. Even JC told her it was bad! Along with saying don’t adopt shelter dogs bc they’re stupid; and that she doesn’t tip. She’s got a whole whole lot of growing up to do. #bb20

Broucher is not the first houseguest to come under fire by the internet community for comments made in the Big Brother house. Earlier this season, houseguest Kaitlyn Herman was heard using the N-word while quoting a Drake song. Former houseguest Rachel Swindler and Angela Rummas had a conversation about their tans on the live feeds and noted they would "changes races" if they kept laying in the sun.

Mounduix has been the most controversial houseguest this season, however, using the N-word twice and holding the bathroom door open on Broucher as she was using it. He was also accused of groping fellow hosueguests with an ice cream scooper earlier in the season. The sexual harassment claim was later followed up with Mounduix kissing the arm of Crispen while Crispen was asleep. Crispen had requested Mounduix leave his bed.

Mounduix was also heard asking Swindler if she was transgender, which visibly upset her after he refused to drop the topic.

Broucher may be evicted Thursday night. She has been nominated for eviction three weeks in a row. Kaycee Clark, current Head of Household, expressed to other houseguests that Broucher is her target. Broucher is aware she may be leaving, though she continues to campaign for her potential future in the house.
