'Bitter' 43-Year-Old Man Ghosting Woman After Intimate Weekend Dragged

The internet has dragged a man who ghosted his date they spent an intimate weekend together.

In a post shared on Mumsnet on Wednesday, the woman, under the username Cherrycokefiend, explained that she met the 43-year-old man online about a month ago, and things were going great until he just ghosted her out of nowhere.

According to the post, the two had instant chemistry, a lot of flirting, and he even took her out for her birthday, "saying all the right things." But "niggly feelings" were telling the woman, who is in her early thirties, that he was still "rather bitter" about his ex-wife.

Online dating is becoming more and more popular. One recent survey showed that online dating services are expected to have reached 413 million active users worldwide by the end of 2022.

The U.S. is the country with the highest percentage of people using online dating services, approximately 53 million people, translating to a 15.7 percent rate.

About 30 percent of American adults have tried online dating, according to a survey by Pew Research Center, which also found that online dating is slightly more popular among men than women and significantly more popular among younger people than it is among older people.

The woman said that since leaving her date's house after an intimate weekend together, she has not heard from him again, and is not planning on making the first move.

"I'm a big girl in my thirties and haven't and will definitely not be reaching out. But frankly, I feel sick that a 43-year-old man could pull this. Ok after a couple of dates (even though that's not great) but after having a level of intimacy? I'm shell shocked, even despite my reservations about the bloke" she said.

Among the 332 users who commented in the thread, most thought he was lying about his divorce, while others wondered why she's categorically refusing to contact him first.

One user, CallmeMrsPricklepants commented: "I'd say he's married, the ex isn't an ex, and wherever you went it just wasn't their family home."

And Dinoswearunderpants added: "It's so clear that the wife was away for the weekend and you were an easy lay. Sorry if that sounds harsh but that's exactly what happened."

Another user, TheDuchessOfMN, asked: "But did you contact him? He could equally say that you've ghosted him."

And Westernesse said: "So from Monday morning it's now Wednesday lunchtime. You've not messaged him but he is 'ghosting' you? funny to see some of the posts about how men are 'capable of this behavior'. it might all just be fine and he has simply been a bit busy."

BoredWithLife wrote: "I'm struggling with why you care who 'reaches out first' - if you want a relationship with him, message him if you don't carry on ghosting him."

And Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight suggested: "He's an arsehole. Better to find out now. You know where he lives so you can always post worms through his letterbox."

Newsweek was not able to verify the details of the case.
