'Black Adam' Has a Game-Changing Post-Credit Scene and Here's What It Means

Stay in your seats when the credits start to roll after Black Adam finishes, as there's a mid-credit scene which will change the course of the DC Extended Universe going forwards.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson stars as the titular superhero in the new DC Comics movie. His ambiguous anti-hero stars alongside other characters making their big screen debut like Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan).

Thanks to Marvel movies, it's become a requirement for superhero films to feature at least one post-credit scene these days, teasing the next major project.

Black Adam is no different, and it features a mid-credit scene which will not disappoint fans of the DCEU.

NOTE: A spoiler warning is in effect from this point on.

Post-Credit Scene

Before the release of Black Adam, Johnson had promised that the producers, DC Comics and Warner Bros. had "listened to the fans" and would reward audiences with a major post-credit scene.

In the final moments of the main movie, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) spoke to Black Adam in a hologram informing him that she had forces that are able to stop him. He smashes the communication device and invites the challenge.

In a mid-credit scene, we return to the highest point of Khandaq at night where the city's new protector, Black Adam, is hanging out.

Out of the shadows, Superman emerges, with his vibrant blue suit creating a stunning juxtaposition to Black Adam's dark super suit.

"We need to talk," Superman tells his potential foe. The camera cuts back to Black Adam who simply smirks before the credits role once again.

Notably, there is no post-post-credit scene. Anyone waiting a further five minutes for the credits to finish rolling will be disappointed to see there's no second scene to consume.

Instead, animations for the production companies who made Black Adam are featured before it finally comes to an end.

What Is the Significance of the Post-credit Scene?

The biggest surprise in the appearance of Superman is that the actor Henry Cavill is back playing the character. In 2018, reports suggested that Cavill's time playing Clark Kent and Superman had come to an end, with Cavill himself posting a cryptic message on Instagram after the news had emerged.

Despite though reports, Cavill's manager, Dany Garcia later tweeted that the reports of him leaving the DC franchise were inaccurate, and that they were still working together on working out a deal.

It was unclear if a deal had been struck, but four years later, it appears they've come to an agreement, and Cavill is back playing Superman again. For now.

There is currently no word on when Cavill will next be seen in the DCEU, nor whether Johnson and Black Adam will be seen again. Technically, this is the second time Johnson has taken on the role after he featured with a voice cameo in the animated movie DC League of Super-Pets.

Black Adam is available to watch exclusively in movie theaters now.
