Bradley Cooper has been spotted with gray hair and wrinkles on set while filming his new movie Maestro, amid an online backlash.
The actor, 47, was all smiles in New York's Central Park alongside Carey Mulligan.
Bradley sported a tan suit, pink dress shirt, and red tie while his co-star wore a cream-colored jacket and matching skirt with an orange top.
Bradley is portraying late American conductor and West Side Story composer Leonard Bernstein in the film, which he's also directing. Meanwhile, Carey, 37, plays his wife, Felicia Montealegre.
However, just recently, people have been calling out the upcoming flick, accusing production of being "anti-Semitic." Fans have argued that a Jewish man should have been cast in Bernstein's role.
"Oh my is that a prosthetic nose - so stereotypical of them to do that to make him look Jewish," one Twitter user shared on Tuesday, July 6, after seeing the newly released images. "I hope they did other things not just the nose."
Another agreed, writing, "This is the most anti-Semitic thing I've ever seen."
However, some members of the public have been slamming the movie for months.
Back in May, someone tweeted, "Sigh. My question, 'How many pounds of latex would it take to make Bradley Cooper into an elderly Jewish man?' was supposed to be rhetorical." They continued, "The answer, BTW, is 'Enough latex that somebody should probably find it a hair problematic.'"
That same month, someone else agreed: "My critiquing of Bradley Cooper converting to Latex Judaism caused me to fail to even notice Carey Mulligan as Leonard Bernstein's first wife, who was Chilean-Jewish. That's a LOT of ethnic cosplay for one movie."
Though neither Bradley nor Carey have spoken out about the accusations, Bradley did give an interview to Variety in January about his love of music. The Silver Linings Playbook star revealed he "wanted to be a conductor since I was a kid."
"I was obsessed with it, asked Santa Claus for a baton when I was eight," the father of one, who shares daughter Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper with ex Irina Shayk, explained. "Listening to music, falling in love with it and being able to really know every single moment of a piece, like Tchaikovsky's Opus 35 in D major, this violin concerto. I could do it as if I know everything about it without really being able to speak the language, obviously."
Maestro will delve into Leonard's marriage to Felicia, who he met at a party in 1946 and was married to for 25 years. The pair shared three children, Jamie Bernstein, Alexander Bernstein, and Nina Bernstein Simmons.
The film is set to be released by Netflix in 2023.
