Demonstrators chanted "racist scum off our streets" as members of Britain First, a far-right British nationalist party, campaigned in Leicester on May 21 for Britain to leave the European Union.

Footage from the scene shows the far-right activists arguing with a protestor, who they call "left-wing trash."

Many people in Britain's political mainstream favour a vote to leave the EU in the country's referendum on membership on June 23, but far-right groups that take a position also tend to come down in favor of leaving the bloc.

Speaking to Newsweek in January, Tommy Robinson, former leader of the English Defence League, also confirmed he wanted Britain to split with the EU.
