Why Bride Squad Looks Different to Most on Bachelorette: 'Math Went Wrong'

When you think of a bachelorette party, you might think of wild partying and excessive drinking. But not for this bridal party which had to tone down the celebrations after discovering that the bride and three of her bridesmaids are all expecting.

Many years ago, Sophie Hare, 27, would have pictured herself having a stereotypical bachelorette party ahead of her wedding, but when the time actually came, it couldn't have been further from that. The maid of honor had to make sure everything was pregnancy friendly for the weekend, as Hare told Newsweek that it was "a lot tamer" than other parties.

Among the 16 guests, four of the women were pregnant, three were breastfeeding, and Hare is 18 weeks pregnant herself. So, when the group came to celebrate her big weekend between April 5-8, they got together in a large house for a slumber party, karaoke, movies, pizzas, and a Mamma Mia themed evening. It was less cocktails and a few more mocktails instead.

"I had never imagined anyone would be pregnant at my party before, but I loved every second of it," Hare, from Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, said.

"My maid of honor had to make everything pregnancy friendly, including the activities, food, and drinks had to change. There were also women who weren't pregnant, and they still got to enjoy a drink or two."

Like them or loathe them, bachelor and bachelorette parties are a hugely popular trend, with 51 percent of people having attended one at some point, according to YouGov. While 58 percent feel positively about the pre-marriage celebrations, 29 percent either hate or dislike the idea of them.

It may not have been what she envisioned, but going through her pregnancy at the same time as her friends and family has been a wonderful experience for Hare.

How Did TikTok React?

As it turns out, Hare's bundle of joy won't be the only new addition to the family because her two sisters-in-law are also expecting. "It's even more amazing that the cousins will be close in age too," Hare told Newsweek.

After having such a blast on her bachelorette weekend, the mom-to-be shared a video on TikTok (@sophiejhare), showing all the pregnant women dancing in a line after their "period math went wrong." Many people were amazed to see so many expectant moms all at one bachelorette party, and the clip has already gained over 378,200 views and more than 8,600 likes on TikTok.

"I think a lot of people found it funny to see how many women were actually pregnant at just one party. Pregnancy can be quite an isolating and lonely experience, but it's brilliant to go through it with the people I feel most comfortable with," she continued.

Since going viral, the video has delighted many social media users and plenty of people were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section. One person wrote: "Love it. You will have to recreate this when all the babies are here!"

Another person responded: "Your kids are gonna have so many in-built friends."

While another comment reads: "This is brilliant."
