Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2—How to Dolphin Dive

Activision's hit shooter series has taken a more tactical approach to gunplay and gameplay in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but that doesn't mean players can't take advantage of old favorite maneuvers.

The dolphin dive was one of the most useful maneuvers in the previous Call of Duty games. This dive essentially allows players to sprint and then dive into cover, allowing them to avoid gunfire and traverse open areas more easily. Unfortunately, pulling off a dolphin dive isn't as simple as pressing a single button. Instead, you'll need to complete a short combination of key presses to pull off this maneuver.

To dolphin dive on the PlayStation, you're going to want to sprint forward (or any direction) using the Left Thumbstick. Once sprinting, hold the crouch button (O) and your character will dive to the ground. Alternatively, you can also slide into cover by pressing the crouch button (O) instead of holding it.

If you're playing on Xbox, you will want to sprint in any direction by pressing the Left Thumbstick down, and then hold the crouch button (B). Just like on PlayStation, you'll dive forward and be able to crawl across the ground prone. If you press B instead of holding it, you'll also slide forward.

Finally, PC players jumping into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can sprint forward using the SHIFT button on keyboard. Once moving, press the prone button (CTRL) to dolphin dive onto the ground. You'll need to press the crouch button (C) if you want to slide.

Now that you know how to dolphin dive, you can incorporate this common maneuver into your tactics when playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The Modern Warfare 2 beta is running until September 26, and there are a ton of beta rewards you can unlock.

If you're planning on playing Modern Warfare 2 on its release date, then you'll want to get a head start and learn how to unlock the MP5—one of the best guns in the game that players have discovered so far. There are also a ton of Modern Warfare 2 killstreaks and scorestreaks to take advantage of.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release on October 28, for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. The game will feature complete crossplay across all consoles, allowing for everyone within the community to squad up and play together. This newest entry in the series will also introduce several new game modes for players to check out as well.
