Cardi B and Offset Relationship Timeline: An Extensive Look Back at Rappers' Romance before Split

After one year of marriage, Cardi B and Offset called it quits. The "Money" rapper took to Instagram to announce their split on Tuesday night.

"So everybody been bugging me and everything and you know I've been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now," Cardi said. "We are really good friends and we are really good business partners—you know he's always somebody that I run to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other but things just haven't been working out between us for a long time."

Cardi—whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar—married Offset—whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus—in September of last year. Offset is one of the members of the Atlanta rap trio, Migos.

"It's nobody fault. I guess we just grew out of love, but we are not together anymore. I don't know, it might take time to get a divorce and I'm going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter's father," Cardi continued in the video.

The news of their breakup comes as a shock to many of the ex-couple's fans, who had rooted for their romance from the very beginning. Read on for a look back at Cardi and Offset's relationship over the years.

December 2016

Cardi B teased the track "Lick" off her second mixtape, Gangsta B***h Vol. 2, which featured Offset. It's unclear if Cardi and Offset met and recorded the track together in the same studio, but the collaboration raised eyebrows nonetheless.

January 2017

"Lick" is officially released and it just so happens the pair begin to be spotted together at nightclubs, causing dating rumors to circulate.

February 2017

Speculation over the rappers's romance continues to grow after Cardi and Offset attend Super Bowl LI together in Houston on February 5. Cardi B seemingly confirms their relationship by posting a video of the couple at the football game just a few days later on Valentine's Day. She refers to Offset as her "bae."

March 2017

Despite the flirtatious video and other photos that popped up of the pair holding hands, Cardi refuses to confirm her relationship when asked about it during an interview with Fader magazine. "I'm not saying I'm dating an Atlanta guy," she said.

April 2017

Offset also refrains from speaking publicly about his rumored relationship with Cardi. During a video interview with Quavo and Takeoff of Migos on Tim Westwood's show, Offset only delivers a smirk when asked about his status with Cardi while his rap compadres snicker the in the background.

May 2017

Cardi and Offset appear together at a Met Gala after-party at 1Oak in New York. However, their relationship is still unclear.

June 2017

Cardi speaks highly of Migos during another interview with Fader, in which she refers to Offset as "the boy." Although she still doesn't go on the record about their relationship, she claims "a lot of positive things came out" of meeting Offset.

"It's been a blessing, me meeting him and meeting his friends," she gushed. "I see how hard they work and that motivated me to work even harder."

Despite appearing at a Met Gala party a month prior, the duo didn't attend the 2017 BET awards together, although they were both in attendance. They are spotted later in the month enjoying a pricey shopping spree in Beverly Hills. Offset reportedly spent a whopping $50,000 on merchandise for Cardi, according to Hollywood Life.

July 2017

Offset gifts Cardi a brand new chain while hanging out backstage at a Meek Mill concert.

August 2017

Cardi and Offset were spotted looking at diamonds at Icebox jewelry store in Atlanta. The "Bad and Boujee" rapper posted a video on his Instagram flashing a giant diamond pinky ring, causing speculation the couple were shopping for engagement rings. Cardi hinted at still being an unengaged woman at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards Pre-Show. "I'm a woman. Every woman, I think, wants to get married and wants to have children. It's never too early to get married now. You know, if you want to propose to me, you can," she said.

October 2017

Things are super official between the duo and Offset finally makes it crystal clear Cardi is his "queen." In a series of Instagram post, Offset wished his girlfriend a happy birthday on October 11, including one photo of the couple in which the rapper wrote, "I L O V E Y O U," to Cardi. On another photo, Offset warned Cardi was off the market, writing, "S H E M I N E."

Days later Cardi fueled breakup rumors when she posted a selfie on Instagram captioned, "Single," and another that read, "Peace nikka." However, she later deleted the posts and wrote on Twitter she and Offset "got into" because she thought he stole her purple blanket. Turned out, Offset wasn't the culprit behind the missing blanket and all was well again with the rap couple. "Naaa but on a serious note I really loveeeee my man," she tweeted. "He was gifted to me from Jesus."

Cardi B appeared on Migos's latest single, "Motorsport," along with Nicki Minaj, on October 27. Two days later, Offset popped the question to Cardi on stage during a Migos performance for Power 99's Powerhouse in Philadelphia, causing an instant fan frenzy. Cardi showed off her huge diamond ring backstage after the show and dedicated an Instagram post to Offset. "I loveee you so much. Thank you for seeing the potential in me since you met me," she wrote.

December 2017

Cardi shocked everyone when she purchased Offset a Rolls Royce Wraith for his 26th birthday.

January 2018

Rumors emerge Offset cheated on Cardi after a video surfaced online of him engaging in a sexual act with another woman. Although the date of the video was unknown, it was reportedly recorded while Cardi and Offset were technically together. Cardi responded to the tape during a show, threatening there would be no exchanging of nuptials if he got caught cheating again.

February 2018

Cardi appears on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine and opened up about the rumors of Offset's cheating as well as the public backlash she received for sticking with him. "It's like everybody is coming down my neck like, 'Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem,'" she said.

"I don't have low self-esteem… I know I look good. I know I'm rich, I know I'm talented. I know I could get any man I want—any basketball player, football player. But I want to work out my s**t with my man and I don't got to explain why," she continued, adding, "It's not right, what he f**king did, but people don't know what I did, 'cause I ain't no angel."

April 2018

Offset appeared in the video of Cardi's newest single, "Bartier Cardi." She later appeared as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, during which she confirmed her pregnancy by showcasing her baby bump in an all-white, body-hugging dress. Offset also confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, "Cardi and I look forward to our next chapter together.

May 2018

A very pregnant Cardi attended the 2018 Met Gala in New York City separate from Offset, who arrived with his Migos counterparts Quavo and Offset. Cardi later told the New York Times she was "upset" the couple weren't able to arrive at the event together, due to Migos being guests of Donatella Versace. Cardi walked the white carpet with Jeremy Scott, who designed her gown.

June 2018

Cardi and Offset appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Cardi stands in the cover image while Offset, sitting, kisses her pregnant belly. Cardi later revealed she and Offset are already married and have been married since September 2017.

July 2018

Cardi gave birth to the couple's daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus.

September 2018

The couple celebrated their one-year anniversary on September 20. Cardi shares a video taken during their private wedding ceremony on Instagram.

The duo have yet to share photos of their daughter with the public, but that didn't stop Cardi from raving on how great of a father Offset is to their child. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she credited Offset's fathering skills to his other three children as one of the reasons she fell in love with him.

"I already fell in love with the way that he was a dad already. I'm like, 'Oh my God, I can have a little one with this guy.' He's really good," she said, adding, "I want to two more."

Offset similarly gushed over his wife, claiming she was "the best thing that's happened" to him while teasing a potential collab album to the New York Times.

December 2018

Cardi takes to Instagram to announce the couple's separation. Offset confirmed, replying to Cardi's post in her comments and writing, "Y'all won."
