Where Is Cardi B's Tax Money Going, Uncle Sam?

Forty percent of Cardi B's 2017 fortunes were taxed by the IRS, and the Bronx-born rapper wanted to know where the money she pays in taxes was going. In a new Instagram video posted on Thursday, Cardi asked Uncle Sam directly, "What ya doing with my fucking money?"

Cardi had an incredibly successful 2017 that included her multiplatinum hit "Bodak Yellow," four other chart-toppers on Billboard's Hot 100, two Grammy nominations and an iHeartRadio Music Award for Best New Hip-Hop Artist.

Of course, all those accomplishments equated to an influx of income for Cardi. But she wasn't too thrilled with the massive cut the government took, especially since she doesn't have proof the money is going to where the IRS claims it is. "When you donate to a kid from a foreign country, they give you updates on what they're doing with your donation," Cardi said.

"I want to know what you're doing with my tax money because I'm from New York and the streets is always dirty. We was voted the dirtiest city in America. What is y'all doing?" she continued, citing New York's filthy Metropolitan Transportation Authority service, which has rats on the tracks, as proof that the city isn't doing everything it could be doing with taxpayers' money. About $5.3 billion worth of taxes goes to New York's MTA, according to the New York Daily News.

She doubted that New York tax money was funding state prisons. "I know ya'll not spending it on no damn prison because ya'll be giving n---s like two [pairs of] underwear, one jumpsuit for like five months. So what is ya'll [N-word] doin with my fucking money?" New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer's analysis of the Department of Correction's 2017 budget said it cost the state $1.36 billion to run jails during the fiscal year.

This isn't the first time the 25-year-old has gone off on Uncle Sam. Last year, she posted a video requesting people "hold off" on paying her so she could take a break from forking over so much of her earnings to the IRS.
