Cat Owner Solving the McDonald's Nugget Thief Mystery Goes Viral: 'Sneaky'

The internet was left in stitches by a cat who stole a chicken nugget from its owner's food delivery and then failed miserably to conceal the evidence.

A video shared by the cat's owner, under the username Atargatisfairy, shows an open McDonald's bag with a handle missing, and the cat wearing the missing piece over its neck.

The clip comes with a caption that says: "Cats proving once again, they're sneaky but not great at hiding evidence."

Research shows that cats are very smart creatures, but we just don't know enough about them yet.

A study by Japanese scientists from the University of Tokyo, published by academic journal PLOS One, says that cats are able to track their owner's location using the sound of their voice.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), says that approximately 3.2 million companion cats enter U.S. animal shelters every year.

Each year, about 2.1 million of them are adopted, and about 530,000 are euthanized. Approximately 100,000 cats who enter shelters as strays are returned to their owners.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) cat owners are building stronger bonds with their cats, with 55 percent of cat-owning millennials considering their felines not only as family members but also as children.

The clip, which was first shared on TikTok last Saturday, has gone viral, reaching over 630,000 views and 64,900 likes, and the internet has got involved to defend the cat.

One user, Cronvrak, commented: "His defense attorney entered the chat," while AonAdharcach wrote: "what?! oh this necklace? it's a family heirloom... I know nothing of nugget"

Helen Rose commented: "The orange cat framed him fr." while Dais2603 wrote: "I think the last one is innocent."

"My client was set up." joked Carrie H.

Another user Cal said: "It was your neighbor's dog... he actually stopped the dog," while Tia-Twinkle wrote: "Nooo can't be that one, was in the other room, nowhere near the McDonald's bag."

Another TikToker Sam Jane pointed out: "Suspicious evidence is pointing in one direction," And tenementcity wrote: "cat wearing a trophy around his neck."

Britt.tit commented: "Had to wrangle my 7kg orange boy who stole a KFC nugget out of the little paper bag they were in. I literally got up from my food for 10 seconds."
