Celebrities React to Solar Eclipse

Celebrities have shown once again that they're just like us, and were as fascinated by the solar eclipse as anyone.

From Oscar winners to reality TV stars, some of Hollywood's biggest names shared their eclipse experience to social media.

The total solar eclipse—when the sun is completely blocked out by the moon—was visible for different lengths of time across 13 states on Monday and made headlines across the world.

Jamie Lee Curtis

The Academy Award winner posted a photo of herself looking at the natural wonder through a window and using safety solar eclipse glasses.

"Praying the eclipse can reset the world to one at peace!" she captioned the post.

Bethenny Frankel

The former Real Housewives of New York star shared a photo of herself posed atop a rooftop in the Big Apple wearing eclipse glasses while eating popcorn to her Instagram stories.

Frankel had superimposed a "Girl Power" graphic over the lenses.

Mario Lopez

The TV presenter and his wife were in Chicago when he accidentally looked up at the sun, which can be very dangerous, but quickly looked away and laughed at his gaffe.

"Mrs. Lopez and I are in Chicago where we are in 94 percent solar eclipse totality!" he captioned his Instagram post.

Reese Witherspoon

Another Oscar winner on this list, Witherspoon posted to her Stories wearing a fluffy blue robe and wearing her eclipse glasses.

"I'm ready," she wrote.

In another slide, she is lying back on a sun lounger with her robe unfurled showing a blue bathing suit, adding, "yeh I saw it."

The post was shared from a photo shoot she was doing for the Wall Street Journal which had posted it to its own Instagram account.

Brittany Mahomes

The wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posed adorably with their daughter, Sterling Skye, 3, as they donned their safety glasses outside.

She also shared a video of Mahomes holding the toddler as Brittany asks, "can you see the moon?"

"Dang," Mahomes says loudly.

Brittany shared more videos to her Stories of the family checking out the eclipse and revealed their 1 and a half-year-old son Patrick "Bronze" Lavon was not so keen on the action and chose to play with a broom instead.

The family also kept their pet dogs inside to protect their eyes because "they won't wear glasses," she revealed and also showed Mahomes playing the protective dad by standing in front of Sterling Skye when she looked up at the sun without her glasses.

Kelly Ripa

The TV star bucked the trend of posing with eclipse glasses, instead opting to take a photo of the eclipse for her Instagram Stories.

"Is it still there?" she asked her 3.4 million followers.

Andy Cohen

The Bravo host took his son Ben, 5, up to a rooftop in New York City to see the rare event.

"Now THAT was cool!!! I love a collective experience in Manhattan—people on roofs everywhere you turn and gathered on the street. Ben's play-by-play was incredible too. Happy Eclipse Day!" he captioned the post.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi

The former MTV reality star shared a series of photos of her with her kids and artistic shots of the eclipse.

"See you in 20 years. Anyone know if the portal opened?" she joked.

Kelly Osbourne

Another MTV star headed out by her pool with partner Sid Wilson and they embraced smiling while looking up at the eclipse which she shared to her Stories.

Drew Barrymore

The actress and talk show host joked that she tried to fit in glimpses of the eclipse while trying to arrange various cords for her appliances.

"That's as good as it's ever been," Barrymore says in the Instagram video showing a pile of cords on the floor as she walks between looking out of the window at the eclipse back to sorting the pile.

"So, with the power of the eclipse I hope to start with a clean slate."

Jessica Biel

The actress posted a make-up free selfie smiling happily while sporting the solar eclipse glasses.

"If you have your glasses... get out outside now!!" she captioned the post.

Kevin Bacon

Bacon took a break from filming the TV series, The Bondsman, to check out the eclipse with his co-stars.

"Working hard on The Bondsman. #Eclipse," he wrote on Instagram.

Lizzo

Not wanting to waste an opportunity for good lighting, the singer headed outside for an impromptu photoshoot in her swimsuit.

"I used the eclipse lighting," she wrote on the video.

Nicky Hilton

The heiress posted a photo with her two daughters, 7-year-old Lily-Grace and 6-year-old Teddy, standing outside a playground.

"A little after school solar eclipse experience," she wrote.

Jason Derulo

Fresh off the set of the Today show where he had performed, the singer hit the streets of New York with influencers Haley Kalil and Max Goodrich.

"I can see it without my glasses," Derulo captioned a picture of the trio.

Jessica Alba

The businesswoman and actress was more pensive than other celebrities about the symbolism of the eclipse.

"Honoring and feeling into this Solar Eclipse. Eclipses are all about new beginnings but this one has such an element of closure—about letting go so you can walk through a new portal and move into your power," she began the lengthy caption.

"Wherever you are, whether you may be able to see the eclipse or not, it will be felt energetically around the world—so I hope you take a moment to connect, fill yourself with love, meditate with the energy, let go of what no longer serves you..."
