Dancing With the Stars' Cheryl Burke Reveals Previous Cast Hookups

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Cheryl Burke is coming clean about all of the celebrity "showmances" she's had on Dancing With the Stars.

Burke — who has been a professional dancer on the long-running dance competition show for 26 seasons — has been paired with everyone from Drew Lachey to Rob Kardashian to weatherman Sam Champion throughout her years on the series. She's also bonded with her fellow professional dancers.

In fact, DWTS has been a hot-bed of romances over the years, as many partners and professional dancers have gone on to date or even get married — including Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev, Britt Stewart and Daniel Durant and more.

For Burke — who was married to Matthew Lawrence from 2019 to 2022 — she's had her own number of behind-the-scenes relationships at DWTS: three.

Of those "showmances," Burke told Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes — who infamously had an ABC showmance of their own —"one of them basically professed his love to me on Ellen DeGeneres," she said. That would be Chad Ochocinco, who gifted her with an enormous diamond ring on her left finger as a "thank you," the NFL star told DeGeneres at the time.

Burke also clarified the difference between having chemistry with a partner while doing the show versus bringing that connection into the real world.

"Lust. It's not love, right?" she noted.

Robach and Holmes, meanwhile, have made headlines for their own "showmance" over the years. The former Good Morning America coanchors officially left the network in December 2023, just weeks after photos of the pair engaging in PDA were released.

At the time, Robach had been married to husband and actor Andrew Shue for 12 years, while Holmes had been married to wife Marilee Fiebig for the same amount of time. Both couples have since split — and swapped partners: Fiebig and Shue have reportedly been dating for months, while Robach and Holmes officially took their romance public when starting their podcast, T.J. and Amy, earlier this year.
