Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade: Route, How to Watch, Live Stream and Start Time

New York's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade might get a lot of attention on turkey day, but the Big Apple isn't the only place that hosts a parade. Chicago has one of its own: the Uncle Dan's Thanksgiving Parade. Uncle Dan's Outdoor Store was named the title sponsor of the parade in October.

Chicago's Uncle Dan's parade is set to start at 8 a.m. CST and is scheduled to last for three hours until 11 a.m. The parade is slated to run along State Street starting up at Congress Street and running down to Randolph Street.

The parade will be broadcast on WGN America and the coverage will start when the parade does. Like many Thanksgiving day parades, the one in Chicago parade will also have performances, marching bands, floats and more. There will be a live stream available at www.wgntv.com/live.

Usually, there's a big crowd in attendance and it can be hard to get a spot to view it while it heads down State Street. Those who brave the chilly weather should try to get there early to grab a spot. The weather is expected to be in the high 30s and sunny for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thursday's parade will be the 85th annual Uncle Dan's parade in Chicago and a number of acts including bands and performers from all over the world are expected to show up and show off for the event. There were VIP tickets on sale prior to the event, but they have since sold out, meaning anyone without a ticket will have to find themselves a spot at the parade.

Other cities also have their own parades. There's a parade in Plymouth, Massachusetts, called "America's Hometown Thanksgiving" in honor of the first Thanksgiving but that parade happened ahead of the big day. Philadelphia, Detroit and Houston all also have their own Thanksgiving Day Parades for the holiday. Most of the festivities are broadcast locally and available for streaming online.
