Who Is Katherine Schwarzenegger? Chris Pratt Announces Engagement to Arnold Schwarzenegger's Daughter

Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are officially engaged after nearly seven months of dating. The Hollywood actor announced the news in an Instagram post on Monday.

"Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I'm thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!" Pratt captioned a photo of the two embracing.

Schwarzenegger's diamond engagement ring also visible in the photo.

Pratt and Schwarzenegger first made headlines in June 2018, when they were spotted picnicking in Santa Barbara, California, on Father's Day. Thirty-nine-year-old Pratt and Schwarzenegger, 29, have since been spotted out and about in Los Angeles on many occasions, including family outings with Pratt's son, Jack, whom he shares with his ex-wife, actor Anna Faris.

Pratt and Faris divorced in August 2017.

While Pratt, the lead player of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, may be a star actor, Schwarzenegger is no stranger to the limelight. Pratt met Schwarzenegger through her mother, broadcast journalist Maria Shriver. Schwarzenegger is Shriver's eldest daughter with actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She is also the great-niece of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

A journalism graduate from the University of Southern California, Schwarzenegger is the author of three books: 2010's Rock What You've Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty From Someone Who's Been There and Back, and I Just Graduated… Now What? Honest Answers From Those Who Have Been There, published in 2014. In 2017 she released her first children's book, Maverick and Me.

Schwarzenegger's foray into children's literature, which educates kids about dog adoption, was sparked by her longtime passion for animal activism. "I wanted to write this book because I saw how kids reacted to me having my dog and the fact that you could get a dog that came with a story," Katherine Schwarzenegger told Us Weekly back in 2017, noting that she adopted her own furry friends, Elliot and Everett, from California's Best Friends Animal Society.

Schwarzenegger also runs a personal blog that focuses on lifestyle, beauty, fashion, health and animals.
