Chrissy Teigen and daughter Luna welcomed a new hamster home on Sunday, but it has already escaped from its cage. When Teigen shared the news of their newest family member on Twitter, social media users warned Teigen the hamster may not stay locked up for long.

Teigen shared a video of the family's new hamster, Peanut Butter, on Sunday. In the video, the hamster was chewing on the side of the barred cage. Twitter users with hamster knowledge were quick to respond that the hamster is stressed, and Teigen should get a glass cage to reduce the chance of the hamster escaping.

The model and mother followed up with a note about Peanut Butter's surroundings Sunday. "Please don't feel bad for her," Teigen tweeted. "We got her everything and more and a giant space to roam in. If I had a safe enclosure for a hamster farm, I would have that."

Monday morning, however, she shared news about Peanut Butter's currently unknown location. "Welp the hamster got out. Just what you all told me would happen," Teigen said.

Twitter users chimed in with their own hamster fails. "Hamster cages from the store are great if you find "hide and go seek" super exciting," wrote Twitter user and writer @TheKenChilds. "Once found mine in a closet with some sports equipment. Picked the girl up and felt what I thought were bones or something in her back (I was more dumb then than I am now). It was 4 golf tees."

Another user shared a hopeful fix to bring Peanut Butter home safely. "Put peanut butter in the bottom of a small trash can then stack books up like stairs," wrote @King829. 'The hamster will go looking for the peanut butter and get stuck in the trash can. Source hammy the hamster that escaped weekly from 2004-2008 #RIPHammy."

Handfuls of commenters expressed interest in what happens and encouraged Teigen to start a reality show.

Teigen and Luna's hamster purchase did not go without confusion. The model shared conflicting tips given at the time of purchase. "They told us we can feed her anything," Teigen wrote Sunday. "My mom said 'rice?' And they go 'no, not rice.'"

She also didn't know when to interact with the hamster. "They also said 'don't really touch her for a week. Then touch her a lot or she'll bite you' it's very confusing, being a hamster mom," Teigen expressed.
