Leicester City has lined up former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink to replace Claudio Ranieri, according to reports.

Ranieri, 65, was dismissed by Leicester Thursday evening, less than a year after leading the club to the most unlikely English Premier League triumph in the competition's history.

Now The Times state that Leicester could turn to veteran Dutch manager Guus Hiddink until the end of the season, to save it from relegation.

Hiddink, 70, has twice taken charge of Chelsea in interim spells, first in 2009 and then in December 2015, when he replaced Jose Mourinho.

He was reportedly Leicester's first choice before it appointed Italian Ranieri in July 2015.

Leicester plays Liverpool at King Power Stadium Monday in a game potentially crucial to its chances of surviving relegation.
