Colbert on Trump's Stormy Daniels Tweet: 'Horseface, You Heard It Straight From the Horse's Ass'

The Late Show​ host Stephen Colbert has ridiculed President Donald Trump for calling Stormy Daniels "Horseface" after her defamation lawsuit against the president failed, with Colbert saying: "Horseface, you heard it straight from the horse's ass."

Speaking on his show on Tuesday night, Colbert was reacting to the resurfacing of Trump's feud with Stormy Daniels, the adult film actor, real name Stephanie Clifford, who claims she had an affair with Trump in 2006.

Daniels filed a lawsuit against the president in April, accusing Trump of defamation for describing one of her claims as a "total con job" on Twitter. On Monday, S. James Otero, a federal judge in California, declared that Trump's response "constituted 'rhetorical hyperbole' that is protected by the first amendment." He ordered Daniels to pay Trump's legal fees.

"Now, OK, that's tough, but if she's looking for a way to raise money I've got a good idea: Launch a GoFundMe campaign titled, 'For $10 million I will stop describing Trump's penis,'" Colbert said.

Colbert attacked Trump over his response to the ruling, in which the president tweeted: "'Federal Judge throws out Stormy Daniels lawsuit versus Trump. Trump is entitled to full legal fees'.' @FoxNews. Great, now I can go after Horseface and her third rate lawyer in the Great State of Texas."

"Yes, horseface," Colbert said, "you heard it straight from the horse's ass."

Daniels's case revolved around her claim that in 2011, she was threatened in a Las Vegas parking lot by an unknown man just as she was set to talk about her affair with Trump in an interview. Dismissing the claim, Trump said that she was talking about "a nonexistent man" and that it was "a total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)!"

On The Late Show, Colbert found the judge's reasoning for throwing out the case "a little upsetting." Judge Otero said in his ruling that it was "the kind of 'rhetorical hyperbole' normally associated with politics and public discourse in the United States.

"It's only normal because Trump made it normal," Colbert said. "Like how now it's normal to be buddies with Kim Jong Un, yet fear the cruel and devious Canadians."

In Colbert's view, Stormy Daniels's scathing response to Trump's offensive name-calling further illustrated the depleted state of America's political discourse.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present your president," she tweeted, retweeting Trump. "In addition to his...umm...shortcomings, he has demonstrated his incompetence, hatred of women and lack of self control on Twitter AGAIN! And perhaps a penchant for bestiality. Game on, Tiny."

Colbert said: "The president of the United States and a porn star are exchanging ad hominem attacks on Twitter, or as Judge Otero put it: 'normal.'"
