Comedian Who Welcomed Trump to Scotland With C-Word Sign Says She's 'Barred' from America

Scottish comedian Janey Godley claims she was "barred from travelling to America" after she welcomed former President Donald Trump to Turnberry in 2016 with a profane sign that contained the c-word.

In June 2016, Trump traveled to Scotland to visit his resort and golf course shortly after Britain had decided to leave the European Union. "Basically they took back their country," the then-Republican presidential candidate said.

Godley was among a group of protesters who welcomed the Republican candidate with profane and offensive signs. In a recent article published in The Times of London, the 60-year-old comedian claimed that she was banned from entering the U.S. over the incident.

"I'd love to go back now Joe Biden's in charge," she wrote. "I've been barred from travelling to America since I welcomed Trump to Turnberry with that 'Trump is a c***' placard. You couldn't pay me to stay in that hotel, I wouldn't put a penny in the a**h***'s pocket."

Godley added: "My first trip abroad was Florida in 1989, with my daughter Ashley and the husband whose name I never mention. We stayed outside Orlando and went to Disney World which was utterly magical."

During his trip to Scotland, Trump reacted positively to news that British voters had decided to leave the EU. "Look, if the pound goes down, they're going to do more business," he said at the time. "When the pound goes down, more people are coming to Turnberry, frankly."

Trump added: "People want to take their country back, they want to have independence in a sense, and you see it with Europe, all over Europe, and you're going to have more than just, in my opinion, more than just what happened last night."

Godley recounted protesting Trump's visit in a blog post shared on June 28, 2016.

"I felt like sh** and was full of anger [over Brexit] and I caught a bus to Turnberry Golf course just to welcome Mr Trump who flew in from US," she wrote. "I got out of the bus and stood proudly with my sign 'TRUMP IS A C***' the cops saw my sign and harassed me into folding it up."

Trump left the White House on January 20 after losing the November election to President Joe Biden. As he departed, he told Americans, "Have a good life, we will see you soon."

In a fiery speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in February, Trump excoriated Biden's immigration policies and hinted to supporters that he may run again in 2024.
