Couple's Sweet Idea To Recreate First Date, With Key Difference, Goes Viral

Anniversaries can prompt reflection and nostalgia about your relationship—and one couple has taken this literally by recreating their first date, with a difference.

A video posted to TikTok by Sarah Lamont to the account @sarahlamont14 went viral for revealing the anniversary activity she enjoyed with her boyfriend: going back to a ball pit. This time around, though, they were far more comfortable with one another. Since the video was posted just three days ago, it has received over 285,000 likes and nearly over 850 comments.

"Highly recommend recreating your first date for your anniversary (except this time you're not as shy)," Lamont captioned the video.

In the clip, Lamont and her boyfriend throw balls at and tackle each other in the pit, laughing and hugging along the way. Lamont's caption suggests that the two were not so close on their first date, chalking it up to nerves.

Newsweek reached out to @sarahlamont14 for comment via TikTok.

Viewers in the comments loved the documentation of the couple's growth and familiarity with one another, and some could relate.

"Literally just did this with her today," @zekezafra wrote. "We recreated the first time we saw each other." Lamont replied: "It's so cute to see how far you've come, isn't it?"

"Finally a couple that gets it," @kelsielynnxoxo wrote. "We recreate ours every anniversary. May not be the fanciest date but it's the most meaningful."

"We did this," @charonseyes said. "It was an Italian circus and that was the first time we ever hung out and then got together two days later. This year the circus landed on our anniversary."

Many in the comments tagged their significant others asking if they could also replicate their first dates—at the library, a haunted house and an arcade, to name a few.

Non-Traditional Anniversary Ideas Are In

On TikTok, anniversary ideas abound. One recent video went viral for the couple's inclusive twist on the celebration.

Anna Mellor, 29, previously told Newsweek about her video revealing a new tradition in which her anniversary became her family's "birthday party."

"I've always looked at our anniversary as the day our family was 'born,' so I thought it would be fun to get a birthday cake to celebrate our 'family birthday' and tie it all together," Mellor said.

"We...decided to go all in," she said. "Put candles on the cake. Turn off the lights. Sing happy birthday. Singing happy birthday to 'us' was a very special memory and we definitely plan on celebrating our 'family birthday' every year."

Whether couples lean into nostalgia or the future, anniversaries seem to be mirrors for some of the biggest moments of our lives. These twists honor anniversaries in a way people online are eager to replicate, and share with others online.
